1. Simon Despres
2. Beau Bennett
3. Eric Tangradi
4. Joe Morrow (could easily surpass Tangradi, but will most likely be moot as Tangradi should graduate to NHL this year)
5. Dustin Jeffrey
6. Tom Kuhnhackl
7. Robert Bortuzzo
8. Brian Strait (more NHL ready than Bort but less upside)
9. Scott Harrington (low ranking as he projects similarly to Bort and Strait yet hasn't had two years of seasoning in the AHL)
10. Brad Thiessen (so many could take this spot but he deserves some credit after his year)

HM: Repik, Bengtsson, Trocheck, Shaw, Cheverie, Jenks, Wilson, Brickley, Comrie, Donskoi, Timmins, Brittain, Hazen, Pacan... and so on. Sick prospect-pool!

- Leaved out Dadonov, not sure if he qualifies as a prospect anymore.
For the last decade, Florida has been a black hole-of-an-organization. But, looking at that prospect group, their future is very, very bright.

both of these teams had a good draft and their future seems bright.(especially Ottawa IMO)

Despres is gonna be a good one.

He was a step ahead of everybody at the Memorial cup.
He'll make the team this year IMO.

Not high on Kreider. I understand he is not given top powerplay time but to be under point per game in college at 19 is just sad. We must be the only team in the NHL that have its top two prospects drafted by other teams.

Here's pretty much the Islanders entire list of prospect. I'm not sure they've been this deep/talented in their history.

Wow, incredible prospect pool. :amazed:

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe not as deep as some other teams, but the top-level talent is amazing. They have a potential star at center, defense and goaltender. At some point this season, they could arguably have the best NHL prospect at each position, all in their own organization. Props to Florida and their fans, you guys are going to have a very good team pretty soon.

*Note: If Grimaldi pans out, which I have high hopes that he can, that list will look unfair...

Nino Niederreiter
Calvin deHaan
Ryan Strome
Anders Nilsson
Kiril Kabanov
Kevin Poulin
Brock Nelson
Kiril Petrov
Scott Mayfield
Johan Sundstrom

Anders Lee needs a lot of work

As an Islanders fan, I have to say there is no way in hell Kabanov cracks the top-5. I actually wouldn't even put him in the top-10. I understand why people are, because of name recognition, but at this point I don't think his play has warranted him being listed in our top-10 list. Other than that, I do like your list. I would maybe flip-flop Strome and de Haan, replace Kabanov with Donovan and Sundstrom with Cizikas. The depth we have in the organization right now is pretty special.

I would stick to the HF definition of prospects for consistency sake.

Kadri
Reimer
Colbourne
Gardiner
Aulie
Biggs
Percy
Frattin
Blacker
Rynnas
McKeeg
Ross
etc.

I put the new guys a little higher than others, because I think that they have a higher ceiling, but have time to show their stuff. Frattin is hard to peg due to a meteoric rise last year. Blacker has developed as a prospect, but I have yet to see a real jump.

9) Matt Taromina (D) (offensive d that was hurt most of year)
10) Jeff Frazee (G) (back up qualities are still there)

Percy needs to be higher. He's going to be in our top 4 in 3-4 years. Book It!.

Axelsson isnt in the top 10 are you kidding me? With his attitude he'll be lucky if he plays in the NHL. Sure he has the talent but Babcock doesnt like players with his attitude.

Talent wise, Axelsson is definitely in the top ten. Whether or not he grows up in the next couple of years and gets a shot with the Wings is another story entirely.

There is no way jarnkrok is below nyquist or jurco.

I agree. Jarnkrok is a very good prospect, and was probably the best teenager in the SEL last year. At this point in time I rank him higher than both Nyquist and Jurco. My top ten for the Wings would be:

(1) Brendan Smith
(2) Tomas Tatar
(3) Calle Jarnkrok
(4) Gustav Nyquist
(5) Jan Mursak
(6) Teemu Pulkkinen
(7) Tomas Jurco
(8) Riley Sheahan
(9) Ryan Sproul
(10) Alexei Marchenko **I know I may be getting a little ahead of myself with putting Marchenko in the top ten (since he was a 7th round pick this year), but he is arguably the best underage defenseman in Russia. Health issues and it being unclear if he intended to come to North America made him available for the wings to pick up late in the draft. Could be ready for the NHL in two years!

HM(s): Axelsson, Tvrdon, Marzek, Andersson, Almquist, Jensen, Ferraro, Emmerton... etc.

The Wings have a very solid prospect pool, without a doubt. The other prospect pools that really stuck out to me were the Kings', Preds', Sens', Panthers' and Blues'.
