Wow... it's amazing how deep Boston's talent pool is, in regards to defense, especially considering that they rarely use high draft picks for d-men.

McDonagh played 40 games in the NHL, so I still consider him a prospect. Same goes for Zuccarello. Not a big fan of Mcilrath, so he might be low on my list, but being top tema with the type of players the Rangers have on this list is pretty good.

My take on the Blues:

:blues

1) Tarasenko
2) Schwartz
3) Rattie
4) Cole
5) Grachev
6) Jaskin
7) Allen
8) McRae
9) Edmundson
10) Cundari

I think Rattie has first-line potential, but is further away from that than either Tarasenko or Schwartz. Cole, IMO, is a safe bet to be a good middle pairing defenseman with fringe #2 upside if his offense comes along. Grachev has improved his game to the point where I think his floor is now a contributor in the bottom 6, with fringe 1st line upside assuming a position switch back to center and continued development. Jaskin also, IMO, has fringe first line upside, but (between him, Rattie, and Grachev) requires the most development (in terms of skill--specifically skating in his case--not necessarily in terms of time). Allen has one good year under his belt in the AHL, which is encouraging but it's hard to project an NHL role for him at this point. I think McRae has fringe 2nd line upside but will almost certainly stick as a bottom six guy in time. Edmundson has a good shot at being a bottom pairing guy, with middle pairing potential possible if his puck skills and offense progress/translate. After him you could put one of any number of likely bottom 6/bottom pairing guys in the system. I'll go with Cundari here, just because he flashes more offensive potential than the others. Bishop's upside is probably a steady backup in the NHL, and I'm not even sold on that, which is why I don't have him on this list.

1. Jonathan Bernier
2. Derek Forbort
3. Andrei Loktionov
4. Slava Voinov
5. Nic Deslauriers
6. Martin Jones
7. Tyler Toffoli
8. Thomas Hickey
9. Linden Vey
10.Maxim Kitsyn

Honorable Mentions: Alec Martinez, Brandon Kozun, Jason Muzzin, Jordan Weal

Toffoli needs to move up at least two spots ahead of Jones and Deslauriers. Martinez needs to be on there bumping down Vey and Kitsyn

Just my opinion:

1. Chris Kreider
2. Ryan McDonagh
3. Tim Erixon
4. Christian Thomas
5. JT Miller
6. Mats Zuccarello
7. Dylan McIlrath
8. Carl Hagelin
9. Ryan Bourque
10. Pavel Valentenko

Next 10 (not in order) - Tomas Kundratek, Steve Fogarty. Chad Johnson, Jesper Fasth, Oscar Lindberg, Andrew Yogan, Dale Weise, Michael St. Croix, Shane McColgan, Mikhail Pashnin.

I'd put Fasth and Kundratek at 9 and 10.

much much closer between 1 and 2 then most people think. Insane defensive depth especially considering that McBain and Joslin are no longer prospects.

White, Weber, Desharnais have graduated in my books and Emelin i won't consider as a prospect.

The only pick from this year's draft that I placed in the top 10 is Beaulieu, I haven't seen the others play. And the only reason Palushaj is up there is because I have no progress on Trunev & MacMillan. I am not a fan of Palushaj despite his scoring spurt in the A.

HF might consider Travis a prospect but I don't.

IMO a prospect graduates when he proves enough at the highest level of his sport that he belongs. Travis played like a legitimate top 2 Dman for 3/4 an NHL season last year. His days of riding the bus in the AHL are over.

Honestly, in my book, a guy like Josh Bailey is more of a prospect than Travis Hamonic despite Josh playing in 150+ more games
