Hartikainen (at 20) toyed with PPG in the AHL playing 3rd/2nd line minutes and was a physical (and skilled) beast in the NHL. I want the Oilers to draft more Finns!

Man I love what Lou and Conte have done with our prospect pool over the past couple years! In this top ten alone you may have the devils future 2nd line Tedenby-Josefson-Palmieri, the devils future #1 D pairing in Larsson-Merill, future 2nd D pairing Urbom-Burlon/Gelinas, and the devils future 3rd line center in Henrique.:yo:

2. Ryan McDonagh, D
3. Chris Kreider, F
4. Christain Thomas, RW
5. Mats Zuccarello, W
6. Carl Hagelin, F
7. Jonathan Miller, F
8. Dylan McIlrath, D
9. Pavel Valentenko, D
10. Jesper Fasth, RW

How people have Kreider ahead of McDonagh boggles me. Erixon I could see, but McDonagh was opening eyes at the NHL level, while Kreider still hasn't broken out in the NCAA. As for having Erixon first, he was a major part of taking a men's team in the SEL to a championship as a 19-20 year old. He's ahead of Kreider at this point, imo.

I think Leblanc remains the top prospect with Beaulieu taking 2nd.

Nygren is interesting as he can fit, potentially in the top 10 depending on who you're talking with.

Not to switch it up but Pribyl seems to be the only pick some hab fans are happy with...

Louis Leblanc
Nathan Beaulieu
Danny Kristo
Jarred Tinordi
Aaron Palushaj
Andreas Engqvist
Alexander Avitsin
Brendan Gallagher
Maxim Trunev
Magnus Nygren

**** our prospect pool sucks. Though, this is what happens when you trade 2nd round picks for up and coming UFAs you don't re-sign and piss away 3rd picks, or trade them for more further down picks.

At this rate and the little hype with Pribyl, he's probably 12th, or 13th and he was just drafted... in the 2nd round.

On the plus side, Leblanc is the highest pick at 16th I believe.

Yes our prospect pool sucks. But it's normal when the past few years, your strong core has graduated into the NHL, and having some traded too: Subban, Weber, Eller, Price, Pacioretty, Kostitsyn(traded), McDonagh(traded). Secondly, Beaulieu is the highest draftee at 17th in our prospect pool right now, not Leblanc. He went 18th overall. 17th was David Runblad.

By the way, maybe Emelin is still considered a prospect no? He would probably be in our top 5.

Filatov wouldn't be any teams top prospect, let alone with a team as much talent in the system as Ottawa. I mean, Columbus traded him for a 3rd round pick. He's obviously got issues -- hell, RJ Umberger tweeted that trading Filatov was a good move by Howson -- his OWN teammate said that. That speaks volumes.

6th overall in 2008, PPG player in KHL (with no secondary assists). Despite his problems in Columbus, he still has the raw talent that got him drafted so high. That is to take nothing away from Zibanejad though.

With Price, Subban, Eller, Pacioretty, Weber, Desharnais and White basically graduating this year or the one before, it's kind of normal to see this former great prospect depth trimmed down a bit.

Not arguing the 2nd rounders dilapidation argument though, I've never been a fan of these kinds of trades, even if Lang, Schneider, Moore, Wiz, etc. have had sweet — but short — moments as Habs.

And the 7 pts in 23 games in the NHL and the 20 pts in 36 games in the AHL?

Defensively lacking, issues with consistency... He COULD end up being the best player out of Ottawa's prospect pool. It's not particularly likely, though. Lehner, Rundblad, Cowen, and Zibanejad are all much more likely bets, AND don't have the same holes in their games/are more likely to reach their potential.
