srsly?? Who cares?

It will start when it's ready to start...

I sorta get the cynicism, but some people might be booking travel or just looking to take the day/afternoon off if their team is in it and not have to . I'm making a pit stop in Vegas in a couple weekends and thought it might be cool if the SCF happened to be there (looking unlikely).

----------------

Obviously depends how long the two semifinal series go, but curious what an estimated date for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals might be? Assuming one or both series go 7 games, are we looking at the 29th or 30th of June for the start?

Ignoring last year's playoffs, it seems like the NHL has been starting the Finals 3-4 days after the latest possible Game 7 in recent years (even if the series doesn't go 7, ie 2019). In 2014, it started 3 days after the WCF Game 7.

2019:
Blues/Bruins: Started May 27
Blues/Sharks (6 games): Ended May 21 -- Game 7 would have been May 23
Bruins/Hurricanes (4): Ended May 16

2018:
Caps/Knights: Started May 28
Caps/Lightning (7): Ended May 23
Knights/Jets (5): Ended May 20 -- Game 7 would have been May 24

2017:
Penguins/Predators: Started May 29
Penguins/Senators (7): Ended May 25
Predators/Ducks (6): Ended May 22

2016:
Penguins/Sharks: Started May 30
Penguins/Lightning (7): Ended May 26
Sharks/Blues (6): Ended May 25 -- Game 7 would have been May 27

2015:
Blackhawks/Lightning: Started June 3
Blackhawks/Ducks (7): Ended May 30
Lightning/Rangers (7): Ended May 29

2014:
Kings/Rangers: Started June 4
Kings/Blackhawks (7): Ended June 1
Rangers/Canadiens (6): Ended May 29

So for this year, June 29/30 (MON/VGK Game 7 is scheduled for June 26) seems like a reasonable guess for Game 1.

Edit: Adding 2013 since that might be an example of the NHL expediting things since the season had a late start due to the lockout.

2013:
Blackhawks/Bruins: Started June 12
Blackhawks/Kings (5): Ended June 8 -- both Conference Finals Game 7s would have been June 12
Bruins/Penguins (4): Ended June 7

I was just about to post this. Does anybody know if this is set in stone or say if both series end in 6 games or less they might start on Saturday June 26?

Normally the only move up scenario are if both series go 5 or fewer. Tampa-Isles is already set for 6 games + NBC already has other sports programming in primetime the weekend of the 26. So the June 30 start date is set in stone.

Plus, the SCF's routinely start on a Monday more often than not

Yes, the Final normally starts on Memorial Day in the US. But the playoffs also normally start on a Wednesday. This year the playoffs started on Saturday, pushing things two days back.

Anyways with both series going 6 games we are locked into the June 30 start date that is already listed. Game 2 is listed for Friday, July 2nd.

Just opened my fubotv app and checked next week's shows.

Game 1 is Wednesday June 30 on NBC while NBCSN has the pre and post game shows.

Not sure how official that is, but why would it be listed if still only tentative?

And no game listed on July 4.

So Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, etc.

This schedule sucks. Almost like they don't want us to gather with friends to watch the games on week-ends.
