I've been wondering what kind of point production you'd think/like to see he'll get in this coming season?

might be fun? to see where everyone's expectations and mindsets are on him, and look back and see how far off/close we were

i'm going to assume he'll probably split his time between khl/mhl? anybody know any clues how this will play out?
for me i honestly have no clue how he'll produce especially if he end up in mhl or wherever... vhl?

so for now, i'd at least like to see 20......0 and go from there

if khl, i'd assume there's a good consensus? that he'll probably/most likely to have a hard time earning some ice time; so production wise might be low end and disappointing

ps would be great if mods can merge this to the main thread with the poll question if this is a can do thing:thumbu:

Can’t say I know enough about the KHL but surely it would be concerning if he spent much time in the MHL right?

Tough to say.

Example:
Tarasenko had 9 goals and 19 points in 42 games in the KHL year after he was drafted. Ovechkin had 27 points in 37 games and I think that was seen as remarkable.

My guess would be if he gets 40 games+ then he should be able to get 10-20 points unless totally relegated to the 4th line.

I voted 11-20 points.

It seems that you really have to bide your time on KHL teams. If you're 18 years old and a rookie you can pretty much forget about top 6 minutes and high production.

Kravstsov who is 1 1/2 years older had 7 points in his draft eligible year playing under 10 minute a gain until the playoffs, which is a Rookie of the Year performance (not sure if they take playoffs into account). He then followed that up with 21 points last season on a low scoring team. 21 points apparently tied Panarin for 9th best point totals in the KHL for under 20 year olds ever. Denisenko had 6 points in 25 games last season.

So it appears that over 20 points would be an amazing performance for an 18 year old. Over 10 points in limited minutes might actually be pretty solid especially if he produces more towards the end of the year if given more opportunities.

Easy to be conservative with 11-20 points. He is on a pretty good team and already has KHL games under his belt from when he was 17.
It may be a good that things don't come too easy to him at this level

I hope he will get 10-15 points in the KHL that would a absolutely fantastic season for him.
Even if he doesn't produce to that level but is PPG in the lower league I'd still be satisfied with that production.

Personally, I think the baseline route would be him being a top 6 forward in the KHL in his Draft +2 year. That way, he fits into the top 6 in his draft +3. If he preforms above that, he's on a good trajectory.

I bet he won't get a single point in the NHL in 2019/20. I take cash, Visa/Mastercard gift cards, or Interac ePayments.

50 goals in 50 games.

No, seriously, if he hits 20 in the KHL I'll be ecstatic to see him in NA.

Podkolzin's team, SKA, has a fairly deep roster. I think he's around #10-11 in terms of forwards on the depth chart and it depends on if the coach wants to play veterans in the bottom 6. I'm not familiar with the KHL, but Kravtsov produced 21 points in 50 games on a bad KHL team and was 2nd in scoring for forwards on Traktor.

Considering Podkolzin is Russia's best U20 player, I hope they would like him to get games against KHL teams in preparation of the World Juniors in December.

11 to 20 points. He's on a stacked team, and he's already on the 4th line according to recent news. He needs to take a spot away from a top 6 player on that team is rather difficult actually. Unfortunately . hoping points in the late teens.

That top 10 totals: 935 gms, 437 pts, 0.47 PPG

So could he hit that PPG average over 2 seasons? He could based on his size, playmaking and playing with better players.

Based on the above numbers, we should be ecstatic if he were to finish up at around 0.5 PPG over 2 seasons.

for next season tho...
Expectations should be lower than that...

Here's U19 all time sorted by PPG...

so let's hope for around 0.333 with gms played carrying his pt totals...

11-20 is the safe easy bet with 40-62 games played.

I'll take the under on what has been posted here. SKA is, as always, stacked. If he was on a weaker team, then I might agree with the common 11-20 prediction. I think he'll struggle to make the team in a meaningful fashion and once again bounce around the MHL, VHL, and KHL. He'll establish himself the following season.

9 points.
