Season Subcriber Sir for 30 years, watched the Leafs since the 50's this guy can't perform in the Big Games, the other night against the Caps the Equipment manager ran out of jock straps because every time McCabe was on the ice with Ovechkin he got faked out of his.

I'd hardly say the Caps game was a big game, regardless you seem to be describing a different preformance by McCabe in that game than I(and others) saw.....he held Ovechkin in check and it was nice to see a little grit on the blueline for a change.

He can do a lot more than score he was driving McCabe and Eddie crazy and the results reflect that.

of course he was, Ovechkin is an elite player.....the results were reflective of the pathetic effort by the team as a whole.

Here is a result leafs lose 8 of 9 games without McCabe in the lineup. With McCabe in the lineup the leafs are on pace for a 100 point season. He is outscoring all players not named Redden or Zubov in non-PP points on a team that has scored 20 less 5on5 goals than Dallas and 37 less 5on5 goals than Ottawa.

He is playing the same minutes as Pronger and Lidstrom and has about the same +/- and has scored more points than Lidstrom and Pronger and has fewer PP points than Lidstrom. Plus the leafs have scored 20 fewer 5on5 goals than Detroit.

The results were because of his teammates picking up the slack.

Your correct Ovechkin is a world class player as are most of the other player's who will be playing at the Olympics, in my humble opinion after watching Mr. McCabe for years he is NOT. Hopefully with several defencemen of higher calibre avalaible this summer it's high time that the Leafs upgrade, maybe would could obtain one of Team Canada's defenceman who are named to the Team and not just Taxi squad members. Feel free to WADE in with your opinions.

I'd take Redden over McCabe but what does that have to do with this?

i think Phaneuf is the #1 canadian-born defenseman in the NHL right now. that he's not on this team is as sick as Crosby being gretzkied out of a position. i hope, for the betterment of the game, canada loses in the quarters so a different "brain-trust" picks the 2010 Vancouver team.

Phaneuf is third on his own team in ice time per game, behind one Canadian who is already on the squad in Regehr, so I'm guessing his own coach must disagree with you.

And if the team wins the Gold with the selected roster will you be disappointed just because they didn't go with your picks instead of theirs? Seems awful selfish to me.

You might not have to worry about McCabe going now. He just took a hit from behind against Atlanta and seems to have hurt his knee or leg.

Sorry, false alarm. It looked really bad but he's back on the ice.

Stuart is flat out bringing in Boston now he's playing 25 minutes a game and so is Jay Bou in Florida he's really picked it up, and this kid can out skate his mistakes.

A bit off topic, but this is correct. Stuart has been amazing in Boston ever since his arrival. Best defenceman to play for the Bruins since Ray Bourque.

I think he may have been over reacting a little...

They called for a stretcher... he couldn't stand up... and he had to be assisted by 2 players off the ice... and he was playing on the 5-min powerplay less than 2 mins into it...
he just came back from a groin injury...probably scared as hell about reinjuring it.

can't blame him for being extra cautious.

I normally wouldn't be all that concerned about McCabe, but this and 12312 similar topics make me want him to kick some serious behind :D
