We beat them twice in regular season (2-1), including a nice shootout win in their barn

So it looks pretty even to me. Our goalies are decent when they bring their A-game, and they better do that in this series.
    Stalock starts, Dubnyk backup.

As long as Dubnyk isn't considered, the Wild are the better team.

We are better defensively, and if we can keep the momentum we had going, we are better offensively.

I think if our goal tending can hold at average, we win handily.

I can see us winning this one. Unfortunately, that is not a good thing because we just aren't that good, and have zero chance to go far in the playoffs, unless both of the KK's play for us and kill it.

The nightmare scenario would be for us to win against VAN, and PIT to lose against MTL. That would push our pick back into the familiar territory of the late teens, and push our other first to the 2021 draft. We'd go from having the #11oa and #25oa to the #18oa, or something like that.

Do you have a link for any of your theories on the draft? None of them make sense

    It does; if the NHL considers the qualifying round not to be playoff hockey, than Pittsburgh losing means they didn't qualify for the playoffs. Pittsburgh can then defer their draft pick to next season. That's for the Pittsburgh thing (it comes down to if the NHL considers the qualifying rounds as playoffs or not, which could have a financial impact as well). As for the 18th overall pick;

So, there is going to be 16 teams in the qualifying round. 7 teams didn't make it, so 8 teams get eliminated. that means now there are 15 teams ahead of Minnesota. Let's say Montreal loses in the 2nd round, Minnesota would get the 17th pick. Because 7 teams didn't make the qualifying round, 8 teams get eliminated in the qualifying round and then Montreal and Minnesota get eliminated. If they did point based + elimination round = Minnesota gets the 17th pick.

I couldn't care less about the draft if we beat the Canucks. Who will be our next opponent? Our rival Colorado...what a series, we'll crush them ;)

Still in the air as to what the play in games are going to be. They haven't made any decisions yet on draft picks. Hence why they said scenario since the NHL has come up with a ton of scenarios.

Link to any of the NHL "scenarios" regarding the draft?

That link completely discredits everything that 57special said above. According to that scenario, the Wild would be guaranteed to pick no lower than 12th with their own pick and would be guaranteed to receive the Penguins pick.

Except did you see the date? You asked for scenarios, that was one of the proposals. A lot of scenarios get scrapped, others get changed.

    These two:

    • For conditional trades, the league would propose solutions. The teams would have seven days to either reform the deal on terms acceptable to both, or accept the NHL’s idea.

    • Using each team’s points percentage to determine the Order of Selection. (That’s under the current playoff format, so 16 teams would be out of the lottery and 15 would be in.)

Could be changed to fit into the current situation. But it was a scenario they were looking into. Given the changes to the playoffs, you could look at that proposal and create a new scenario taking the previous one and the changes and create a new scenario that keeps with the spirit of the old one.

Look at how the playoff formats changed over time, but they kept some of the spirit alive.

So do you or don't you have a link to support the theory that the Wild will lose the Penguins pick this year and their own pick could slide down close to 20th overall or worse?

Again, 57special said nightmare SCENARIO aka a sequence of events especially when imagined.

The NHL still has a lot of things to hash out with regards to the NHL playoffs. If they consider the 16 team play in to be the playoffs, they are going to have to amend the CBA, because there is a playoff pool, which doesn't include a scenario like this. You think players are going to play for free for the play-ins?

But the link above gives a scenario where the Penguins and the Wild may have to come up with a new agreement, and that draft is based off percentage of points.

He said the nightmare scenario would us beating VAN and PIT losing to MTL because that would lead to us picking later and losing the PIT pick altogether. Yet, we have no confirmation that us beating VAN and MTL beating PIT would lead to what he said it would, and in fact the article you posted directly refutes most of it.

Again, show me a link to the "nightmare scenario" please.

Players play for "free" in the playoffs every single post season. this year would be no different.

The link above clearly states that the Pitt pick would go to the Wild unless the two teams agree to seomthing different.

    I did, but you apparently can't see 1+1 = 2.

Also players don't play for free in the playoffs ever single post season: https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-player-playoff-compensation/

In 2019, the eight playoff teams that lost in the first round received roughly $2.6 million ($325,000 to each of the teams). With each team having a roster of 25 players, each player received approximately $13,000.

So, 13,000 dollars for a team that lost in the 1st round is nothing?

The link doesn't clearly state that the Pittburgh pick would go to the Wild:

    • For conditional trades, the league would propose solutions. The teams would have seven days to either reform the deal on terms acceptable to both, or accept the NHL’s idea.

They would have to reform the trade or have the NHL arbitrate. It doesn't say that the trade would still be accepted.

    1. You have provided no such link.
    2. Do you think that the NHL wouldn't give the same compensation for this years playoffs? Why would anyone think that?
    3. The link clearly says that the top 16 teams would be out of the lottery. Therefore the Pittsburgh pick would transfer to the Wild unless the teams agreed to otherwise.

Well travel restrictions for professional athletes have been lifted, this means Canadian and European players can enter the US without any issues. Trump says he wants sport events up and going again. One more step in the right direction.

Essential travel was never restricted, traveling for work is considered essential. They were never really prevented from travel to begin with as a result.

Yeah, just that hockey players aren't considered essential. Hospital workers, truck drivers and so on are...

It didn't say essential workers though. It said essential travel, then said travel for your work is permitted.

The only travel that was shut down was for leisure etc. It was never restricted to essential workers only.
