I don't think first or fourth matters that much in the North...

Driving thru Alberta so I listened to the Oilers/Calgary game... Mike Smith is on a random Mike Smith run and that could be scary.

Price has found his form in Montreal and they have games in hand/rested - I wouldn't count them out at all

Teams will figure out Campbell soon - another journeyman one season wonder... but those guys have carried teams to the finals

I don’t care who we play.

Other team posters say bad things about our defense (and so do we rightfully) but at the end of the day, they say they don’t want to face us. Pressure is on them.

We have decent forwards and a goaltender who is one of the best in the NHL

Bring it on.

The Playoffs are always so random. In the North the top 3 teams are talented but flawed. Montreal is currently sputtering and kind of backing in but who the f*** knows? I think it’s really a coin toss no matter who we face in the first round.

I admit empty buildings are a buzz kill and without the Whiteout, or being in attendance for a few games it’s not the same for me at least. I am competitive and love to win but this doesn’t feel like real playoff excitement for me.

Each Northern team's head to head results, sorted by vs. winning percentage.

After last night I think there is an honest chance we end up in 4th and face the Leafs in the first round...

Not the worst thing to happen.

Montreal has a tough schedule down the road Toronto 4 times and Edmonton twice. Ottawa twice as well and they are losing that season series. If they beat Toronto on Wednesday and we lay another egg, the Friday game could bring them within 2 points. With a game in hand. I think the Jets would rather play the Leafs right now. So who knows maybe that's the goal. Slide down the standings, and you could pick top 18 in the 1st round.

It's getting to the point where I wonder if we should tank to get 4th place instead of 2/3
Why can't we beat Edmonton?!

Isn't this the exact situation where you say, "six of one, half dozen of the other"

I dont think the playoff match up matters at all. Likely a first round exit. If the team suddenly gets their shit together, and helle is helle, then it also doesn't matter who the opponent is. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for the latter.

Yeah that was pretty much how this season was gonna go regardless, unless we brought in some major reinforcements. This entire season is all based on how far Helle can take us.

So, the NHL record for points against in a 4 game series is no big surprise, Gretzky vs the Jets (1984-85) with 6 goals + 7 assists = 13 points.

McDavid has a high probability of beating that.

This team has floundered so badly down the stretch its shocking.

When is the first game against Deadmonton?
I am guessing the 18th.
TO/Habs starting on the 17th?
