I was for sure Pastrnak was Swedish, you'd also think Slater Koko (not even going to try the correct spelling) was from somewhere in Scandinavia, not Canadian.

I also at first thought Braden Holtby was German for some reason

Because a czech name couldn‘t be a czech?

Okay, Sweden is always a good guess.

There are so many Euros in the league now I automatically assume a weird last name is European only to find later out they're Canadian or American. E.g., Scheifele, Guentzel, Boeser, Ekblad, Slavin (and many more).

Cristobal Huet surprised me when I was younger; assumed he was Canadian-French, not France French.

I never understood how is Niskanen not a Finn.

Ekblad I routinely think of as a Swede.

Most of these guys probably just have a parent with a different nationality than the one they represent. It's not that Gibson is a Finnish name or Virtanen Canadian.

Johnny Oduya - nothing about that sounds Swedish to me as a Canadian.
Also, I thought Roberto Luongo and Milan Lucic were Italian for the longest time.

The first time I heard these names I would not locate them in Canada based on their names:

Nazem Kadri - Sounds Arabic to me
Milan Lucic - Czech would be my first guess
P.K. Subban - Intuitively I would locate this person to Sweden, for some reason.
