I know that many will laugh at me because of Beniers, but....
where he might be excellent defensively, i don't see much at all
offensive upside for him (as a pro), you don't pick defensive forwards 2nd overall...

So, even if you think Beniers is a defensive specialist 3rd line guy, he’s gotta be a 1st rounder still. He’ll carve out a career, and that’s 1st round value.

That's not necessarily the case. A potential first liner can be worth more than a guaranteed 3rd liner even if there's a chance they don't meet their potential, simply because a 1st liner would be far more valuable than a 3rd liner who'd be largely interchangeable with other depth players. That's why in drafts I would always aim for players with high potential, as bottom 6 players simply aren't going to make very much of a difference.

well, they didn’t, they took a PPG player as a true freshman in college who also happens to excel on the defensive side of things while also possessing multiple high end pro attributes.

I would imagine in a redraft Ryan O’reilly and Patrice Bergeron are probsbly top 5 picks in their respected drafts
