Players as famous as their equipment?

The masks thread got me thinking. What other pieces of equipment will be synonymous with the players who wore them?

Just off the top of my head.

Belfour's mask in Chicago was unique

Also since Ray Emery is a "never-was-been" he might just be remembered best for his mask with Mike Tyson painted on it

Petr Klima's helmet

Garth Snow's shoulder pads.

An interesting idea for a thread :)

Mine: Orr with his one single row of tape on his stick.

Two goalies immediately come to mind and I'm rather surprised they haven't been mentioned.

Curtiss Joseph and Gerry Cheevers.
?

Arturs Irbe's ratty-looking leg pads come to mind immediately.

Don't know if movies count or if this even counts as "hockey gear", but the phrase "putting on the foil" fits here somewhere.

The thing that Tomas Holmström wears. It's like a jersey of pads.

Any shoulder pads of such ridiculous size are to be referred to as "ManEaters".

Also, Giguere's ridiculous chestpad is probably the best current example for this thread.

Bill Durnan's blocker/trapper hybrid.

Didn't Moose Johnson use a stick that was like, half as long as the rink?

Yeah, it was something ridiculous like 7 or 8 feet long, if I remember correctly.

Durnan's ambidextrous pads and Ludwig's shin pads were the first two to come to mind when I read the thread title.

I always associate Clint Benedict with his ridiculous mask.

Another that people might not be familiar with is Emile Francis, who first wore a first baseman's glove in net, which later morphed into the trapper.

Mike Liut's grim reaper duck mask. I'm trying to avoid more with masks because then we'd just get off onto an artistry tangent (Gilles Gratton, Gary Bromley, etc).

Don't have pictures but :

- Garth Snow's lacrosse shoulderpads.

- Rob Ray's tearaway jersey.

- Steve McCarthy's pointless chinstrap.

- Jason Strudwick's omnipresent blue mouthguard.

- and for a really obscure one, Per Gustafsson was a Florida defender in the mid-1990s who had these ridiculous plastic skates that I still remember.
