What do you expect from our players next year? Don't include players that could be traded for, but as a bonus, include the player you think the Oilers will draft next year and how they will do:
Forwards:
Line 1_________________________________________________________________
McDavid: On a whole new level. He will win both the Rocket and the Hart, and finish with 48 goals and over 120 points, breaking Crosby's career high. He finally gets some consistent linemates that don't change after every few games.
RNH: Will finally hit 30 goals playing alongside McDavid almost the entire year. Falls just short of 80 points due to a minor injury.
Puljujarvi: The Oilers biggest breakout player. Will solidify his role on the top line and powerplay unit and score 35 goals and 70 points. Finally gains TMac's trust and proves all the doubters wrong.
Line 2_________________________________________________________________
Drasaitl: Solid in his 2nd line center role, but is criticized by the rest of HF for finishing one point behind RNH. One of his biggest contributions is on the PP, where he is put on the right-half wall position to unload his one-timer. Also a force on the PK.
Lucic: A solid season, with 50 points, but just 14 goals, and is also critisized by HF for that. Regains his confidence and becomes the hulking winger that everyone was afraid of. Is also a great leader for Yamamoto both off the ice, and on it where everyone is afraid to hit Kailer because of Looch.
Yamamoto: Will impress once again at training camp, and develops great chemistry with Draisaitl. Finishes with 19 goals and 56 points, with next to no PP or 3 on 3 time. Isn't voted a Calder finalist because of great years from Dahlin, Svechnikov, and Petterson.
(Too lazy to write it for the bottom 6, but in short, everyone but Strome and Khaira are completely useless at even strength, making them effectively a 2 line team)
Pairing 1_______________________________________________________________
Klefbom: Regains his 2016-17 form, becoming an undisputed top 30 defenseman in the NHL. His defensive game improves, as well as his offense. He finishes with just under 50 points, but 2nd among Dman with 20 goals. 5th in Norris voting.
Larsson: A beast in his own zone again, covering for Klefbom and finishing 1st in the league in hits. Goes somewhat under the radar to the rest of the league due to an outstanding year by Klefbom.
Pairing 2_______________________________________________________________
Nurse: Continues to improve, with his defensive game becoming rock solid, and his offensive game showing improvement as well. Ends up with 29 points, every single one of them at even strength.
Russell: One of their most under appreciated players next year. A steady presence for Nurse and a shot blocking monster.
Pairing 3_______________________________________________________________
Benning: Meets expectations. 17 points and pretty solid defensively.
Sekera: Isn't able to bounce back to his previous form. Plays awfully for the 1st 20 games before getting injured.
Bear: Doesn't make the team out of camp, and has a disappointing start in the AHL. Gets called up after Sekera's injury and doesn't look back.
Goaltending_____________________________________________________________
Talbot: Very solid, getting 70 starts and 9.19 save percentage.
Koskinen: Is quickly regarded as a waste of 2.5 million dollars. Is awful in his 11 starts and gets traded to NYI.
Bonus - Draft Pick________________________________________________________
Evan Bouchard: Extremely impressive training camp and preseason, earning him a 9 game tryout. He plays well in his extremely limited minutes, before being sent to the OHL. Goes on to score 100 points with London.
