You don’t have to agree, but the proof in the pudding. This isn’t even controversial
I mean, I think everyone but you agreed it isn’t controversial. You’re the only person who sees a conspiracy to attack only against Liverpool and not city

Not disagreeing, but honest question what respect does Ozil deserve?

He chose us over big money teams, and remained loyal.
he creates chances more than any other mid, and would help Pepe immensely.
He comes on a game and looks promising only to be subbed off and told "he needs rest"? and never makes the bench again?
unai is a clown show and should be shown the door, he doesn't know what he's doing.

"boring, boring Arsenal....."

bring me back to my youth.

To be fair a bunch of people on here thought United had arguably the 2nd best team on paper in the PL prior to last season and were posting their record with OGS after every other game (not just United fans either). I thought this team’s lack of quality has been obvious for a bit and that Mourinho overperformed.

I think last season they had a team that would’ve competed for top 4 with a decent manager. But losing Herrera and Lukaku and not replacing them was a death blow, especially for a team that has a manager as bad as OGS.

Ozil's next move will be to the Turkish league or something like MLS, maybe Qatar or China. Dude is done at this level.

I mean, Lukaku can score in the league, but wasn’t going to play. Someone there felt Rashford and Martial were a better option.

Herrera hasn’t been replaced, but the defense is arguably better. I would say that’s a net improvement.

You’re still losing a guaranteed 15-20 goals a year. Yeah martial and Rashford are better in OGS’ “system”, but you can’t go into the season with 2 players as you’re only legit options up front.

Sure the defense is better but you weakened an already very weak midfield and did literally nothing to strengthen it.

The defense is the only thing that was strengthened this year. Everywhere else was a big net loss and it’s showing. Way worse than I would’ve thought, not that I had high expectations coming into this season.

i don't think anyone expected Fred to regress this much, right?

McTominay is pretty good now as well.

For real. Going from being a important cog for Shaktar in the UCL to basically useless is pretty impressive.

McTominay is good, but lacks creativity and incisiveness with his passing. He's very industrious but his lack of ball skills will hold him back from being a top level player, kind of a new age Darren Fletcher-type. But not as good.

Solskjaer has had a tough time of it if you factor in the injuries and the Summer's transfer business. Playing without Pogba, AWB, Martial and Lingard isn't going to do you any favors no matter who you are with that squad. On top of that lacking another good striker now that Lukaku is gone hurts too. Still Solskjaer needs to get more out of those players.

Losing Lukaku hurts. I don't disagree with the decision to sell him all things considered, but let's not pretend he wasn't going to play or bring some goals. What really hurt United was losing Herrera though. Their record with him last season vs their record without him spoke volumes.

Losing Lukaku isn't really an issue, him leaving is no big deal. But not adding at least one senior attacker after letting him go is pretty idiotic. Due to injuries we're now relying on Pereira, Lingard, Mata(bless his soul), and James and none of them are good enough.

Yeah Herrera is a good midfielder and left a huge hole.

No we don’t, Mourinho can actually organise a defence, pick the right players consistently and win titles. We have the Spanish worse version of Steve Bruce.

Wait you think steve Bruce is a better manager than Emery?

That might be overexaggerating a little, but Emery is definitely one of the worst managers in the league, and not suited to an attacking team at all. Almost any manager in Europe would do a better job.

Uh huh. The guy who won 3 straight Europa league titles is one of the worst managers in Europe. I mean he’s not someone who should be managing the top 3/4 teams in the world, but the guys a good manager.

He is a cup specialist. His league record with PSG and Sevilla is not good. Can’t think of many managers who consistently fails to get the team selection right as often as him. When he is allowed to be reactive to the opposition, he is okay, but he might be the worst in Europe at trying to control a game. He is probably not one of the worst managers in Europe, I am overreacting because of frustration and most likely blinded by his recent struggles. At a club like Arsenal he has to be one of the worst possible managers in Europe, no doubt about that.

His league record with Sevilla is poor? 5th twice and 7th in his last year is a fine record; I mean 7th isn't great but 5th with Sevilla is exactly what you'd expect.

Finishing fifth with the players at his disposal, considering how much better they were on paper than for example Valencia, is a slight underachievement in my eyes. It isn’t terrible but it should be considered a disappointment. In his first season, he finished 5th with only 63 points, which is usually way too low for 5th too. This was in Spain, a slow league that suits him a lot better, and as a manager he has regressed since then, I would say.

I've never been a huge Emery fan, but any sentence containing the word "worst" is considerable overreaction. I don't think he's awful, I'd just much prefer someone a lot better, and on a personal level I just can't bring myself to appreciate him. But we could be a lot worse off, just look around

The result and performance weren't a surprise. Missing 5 starters including our only creative player. Backups either past it (Young, Mata), nowhere near good enough (Fred and Pereira) or inexperienced (Tuanzebe, Dalot and James). The squad will take another 2 or 3 transfer windows to fix. The whole club is a mess.

I feel a little bad taking in some joy of United's failings. Honestly, there are some decent United supporters who don't warrant any disdain or humor at their suffering.

That said, there are plenty who deserve all the strife that club will have to go through to get back somewhere in shouting distance of where they were.
