It’s too late to change the rule now but they need to get rid of that armpit rule for next season. It’s a terrible interpretation and the fact that the precedent has been set needs to be immediately corrected in the summer.

The easy fix is to apply the same standard to VAR calling something offside as is applied to other VAR calls: Clear and obvious. If it's blatantly, absurdly offside and is an extremely big mistake from the linesman, pull it back. If it's marginal and entirely conceivable that a linesman could miss it, don't.

Yea I do not like that offside call.

It’s impossible to definitively tell where his armpit or shoulder begins and his arm ends based on the regular HD footage. Even If you had crazy 16k footage or something there’s still interpretation for armpit vs arm.

The 30 or whatever frames per second also means that you’re talking about several inches of grey area in between frames.

I just can’t believe anyone would look at that goal being disallowed and saying “yes, this is what our game needed”
