If Jake Gardiner “nearly can fill the shoes of Subban”, why don’t you just keep him instead?

Maybe but that is only when comparing shoe sizes . Subban takes a size 13 . Gardiner takes a size 12.5 so he almost fills his shoes . But when it comes to filling his skates on the ice it's not even close .
