It wasn’t so much his complaining it was his ****ty play and attitude and no one wanting to play with him.

Gusev isn’t someone I’ve heard about but that doesn’t mean anything either. I know a few people and hear things sometimes. I don’t pry.

I’ve received my fair share of the Kessel and locker room situation and I’m confident to talk about that. I hear bits and pieces in generalities just like hearing about the locker room vet they’ve been wanting and wanting to change the culture in the room. I didn’t give a **** what lipspeak GMJR was saying about Kessel there was no way he was going into the season with him on the roster from what I was being told. I mentioned to you guys Kessel wanted Arizona and Vegas was his second choice but they had no cap space. I heard about Kessel nixing a deal weeks before it got reported and I didn’t realize it until then it was the Minnesota deal after talking to someone about it.

They know JJ is a problem. Sully isn’t a fan of his. GMJR wants a hockey deal again. He doesn’t want to deal a 1st to trade Johnson but knows he may need to trade something(s) of interest in a hockey deal to get something of value back he wants too.

I hope that Geno can head into this season with a clear head and not be resentful of how he was talked about as a trade option. If he's unhappy and unmotivated we have bigger problems than JJ. I am not too worried about it and I am a total Geno apologist/fan. I think he gets unfair criticism.

As long as JR gets back value I am fine with moving Rust or Bjug, but why not get nothing of value except almighty cap space? I saw Jake McCabe's name being tossed around. Make move Rust or Bjug to Buffalo in a separate deal?

It’s just too bad a good forward on the ice (regardless of any moves on D) has to go so we can sign an old player who’s not as good on the ice...I think winning cures more ills than a loud vet voice in the locker room...winning=players happy, no locker room problems...too much weight being placed on cliches to me...

1) If we got Williams he'd be probably a straight top 6 upgrade. Boyle's taken a step back, but would still be one of the better 4Cs out there if the move was to promote Blueger early, and would be a big upgrade for the special teams. We're not talking Kunitz's corpse here, we're talking worth it players (cap pending).

2) I make these comments completely independent of last season - but winning starts with a professional environment in which players are serious about trying to be the best prepared team on the ice, and that's just as much a part of culture as whether they're happy or complaining or anything else. You have the cart before the horse.

I don’t think it is even crazy. They just spent more on Aho that they preferred and then bought our Marleau. That caused them to cap dump DeHaan.

Depends on whether Williams is happy to take minimum to keep playing hockey where his family is, or whether his head can be turned by a pay day on a serious contender.

Pens don't need a 4C. It's either a 3C to push Blueger down to 4C or bust at that position for me.

Williams would make this forward group the best of 87/71 era IMO.

Williams just came off a great year and was making 4.5 I doubt he's going to take minimum.

It would feel like Cullen did his first 2 years.

No because Geno and Letang were part of the insubordinate group last year siding with Kessel and being hard to reign in for the coaching staff. Sid is a silent leader who leads more with his play. They are still trying to right the locker room issue. Cullen leaving makes that void even bigger. They are looking for a vet ala Boyle or Williams if Cullen retires that won’t be scared to voice their opinion around Sid/Geno.

I think if Bjugstad is the guy to go they will focus more on Boyle. If Rust is the guy to go then it might be Williams.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Boyle. He’s really good on the PK and I’m liking what I’m seeing with Tanev added because after losing Bonino and Hagelin our PK went to ****.

I’m just saying whether it’s via FA or trade, he’s made us younger but he knows we need a veteran presence in the room to tell Geno and Letang to shut the **** up and adhere to the plan and win games for the Pens instead of self nuking.
Maybe hire a respectable coach that isn’t an asshole? These guys clearly saw this guy is and was incompetent and were frustrated by it.

But but Kessel went to Rivers Casino! Think about the children.

It excites me to have so many players I want to see play on Sid and Geno’s wings this season.

Including Tanev. :naughty:

Williams would have been a better signing then Tanev.

Leader qualities, respected and a JR guy for sure, just the age bit doesn't follow his latest binge.

No argument, although I suspect that if Williams is actually attainable, the answer will be "Both".

If we are going off dumb signings and trades Vancouver should be the front runner.
I don’t think we can criticize anyone else right now after WE signed Johnson and just signed a bottom six player to a gee dee 6 year deal.

The Geno and Letang trade talk was all public smoke and mirrors message sending about the Pens wanting more from them to be leaders in the locker room and not dissidents.

Regardless, GMJR wants to make sure we have a vet presence in the locker room to curtail the **** that’s went on the past year and a half. Brassard came in and infected the locker room. That was the beginning of the end of Kessel and it spiraling down to others on the team.
This team still needs a veteran presence.

Let that sink in. And you still blame Kessel? Did you want to blame kessel when we needed Mark Recchi, Gary Roberts, or Bill Guerin?

The f***ing idiocy in still blaming kessel while being absolutely obtuse to everything else.

Sid Crosby and Evgeni Malkin oh and Kris Letang...the leaders on this team and nhl vets of 12+ years, still need a f***ing leader mentor.

I'm literally in tears from laughter at the people that still don't f***ing get it. They just don't.

So how do people rationalize anyone being a great leader in this group?

I sure as shit can't. Because the only leader that has won us cups are Bill Guerin and Matt Cullen twice.

Lmao

Do you like anything? ...or are you always this miserable like in all your posts?
I loved most of the moves JR made prior to June 2017. I liked signing Riikola to a nice contract.

But what else should I like that we’ve done? Tanev is a decent player, but 6 years? It’s hard to like much with this team lately.

All I see if an awful coach and a GM that’s transformed a highly skilled offensive juggernaut into a bottom six squad.

If you paid me millions to play a game for a living, I would be ok if you beat me with a rubber hose while in my jockstrap and televised it during intermission.
