Yeah, it would seem like the Pirates overpaid with the Pirates giving up their first-round pick from last year. I know they want to give their current team a chance with the second wild-card, but they should just commit to either fully rebuilding or going for it, don't be in between.

Archer has not been good this year, meanwhile Meadows has been the Rays best player before getting hurt, and Glasnow has been one of the best pitchers in the AL. The Pirates should be ashamed.

Yeah it is a bad trade for the Pirates but I suppose at least it was good for Glasnow, I don't think he would have ever turned out had he stayed here, they just couldn't figure out a way to make it work for him

Don't forget about Shane Baz, either. If he could throw strikes, look out.

Yeah, emptied the farm for a good but not great pitcher. His control and cost made him valuable but he's still a #3 pitcher, not someone you gut the farm for.

And they traded Gerrit Cole for a bunch of crap. The collective WAR of Musgrove, Moran, Martin and Feliz adds up to a wopping 1.3 WAR collectively over their spans in the Burg...while Cole has accumulated 7.2 WAR so far in Houston.

The Cole/Taillon/Glasnow hype was warranted even if it never fell through in Pittsburgh. Of course i in Pirates fashion those guys figure it out once they leave Pittsburgh.

Archer has to be the most inefficient pitcher that I have seen in a long time, he can never seem to get through 5 innings with less than 90 pitches. Already today he is up to 55 in 2 -2/3 innings

Force Gerrit Cole to throw 2-seamers low in the zone and turn him into a #3 starter. Trade him for nothing as his new team has him throw 4-seamers up in the zone and he turns into an ace. Try to replace Cole with pitcher who has ace peripheral stats but hasn't actually pitched like one in three years and give up a god damn haul for him.

The Astros and Brewers are head and shoulders above everyone with pitching development while the Pirates are, uh, buried beneath the earth's crust in that department.

Funny how the narrative changes. Remember a few years ago Ray Searage was a god and the pitcher whisperer?

pretty much.

aside from the ball itself being different, searage preached the two-seamer and getting grounders to your infielders. nowadays, guys are trying to hit dingers so you attack them up with velocity.

Only 11M, so they’ll either pick it up or trade him before it kicks in.

What a bust of a trade this has been though, wow.

Man, this is gonna go down as one of the worst trades of the decade, isn't it? Meadows and Glasnow are looking like absolute studs.
