Even 50% retention wouldn't be worth it for the cap trouble it would cause next year. The only cap dump from the Panthers would be Knight and I don't think Smith is the player I'd want in a deal involving Knight.

Reilly Smith has taken shots at the Panthers & their fans twice since leaving town. I don't think he wants to be here, and we certainly don't want him here.

My offer is a 6th rounder and he has to come out for a pre-game skate and we throw tomatoes at him. Also, we don't actually trade for him, we just bring him in for the tomatoes. The Penguins can keep him.
