From someone who has no idea:

Does this vote, if it ends in a yes, automatically mean the NHL will accept the offer? Is the NHL on board for another year for $25 million?

They OWN the team, and they are covering over $11 million in losses on top of the purchase of the team.

I also believe you have not been close to the cap floor the last two seasons.

True.

However, investments go far beyond player salaries. A new owner will layout a strategic long-term plan that goes from top to bottom with regards to the organization's on-ice product and the marketing/operations aspects behind the scene.

Stable ownership will provide this...the NHL will not considering they have their own entity to look after.

Good to know. The facility is incredible. Shouldnt be a problem finding profitable uses for it then!

Oh, she even mentions one, U2, when the seats were full.

Don't take the team, for the sake of Jerry the guy at the beer stand :D.

Really this has actually been pretty entertaining to watch on both sides of the issue.

Most likely the Vote will pass will all in favor other than Lieberman. NHL has already said they are committed to continue to work at finding stable ownership at least for the next year.

NHL has put nothing into the team.

Right it is what they haven't put in that matters: Meaning they haven't put the team in another city.

Quick question since it seems to be brought up quite a bit on this thread. What makes the next potential owner any better than the last? A popular excuse for poor attendance has been poor ownership, well there is no guarantee that Hulsizer would have been any better.

The NHL is doing all of these things now. They run marketing, run their sales staff, employ their scouts.

The NHL is a more stable ownership and management group than several teams in the league have.

can they support a team? yes
have they? no

From 2000-2001 to 2008-09 the Coyotes missed the playoffs 7 times out of 8 seasons.....of course attendance was going to drop.

How quickly people forget the attendance issues in Washington, Pittsburgh, and Chicago....all three considered "strong markets" these days. Washington was putrid, and the other two franchises had ownership issues and an apathetic owner respectively. See what happened to both when they were able to solve those issues?

Do any of these Coyotes fans speaking tonight, who bring their kids, understand what the prices will be if they ever get to profitability?

So all the Yotes need is Crosby, Ovechkin, or Kane and Toews?

Should be easy enough....

I wonder how many of these people warning of economic doom for the city also opposed the bank bailouts. The rationale the banks used is exactly the same.

Sure they run it...but how willing are they to innovate and breathe in a new and positive organizational culture?

I'm stunned people cannot realize there's a difference between the NHL owning the team and a dedicated owner....then again, I lived through it with the Expos.

How can a professional sports team continue to be run like this, does it not hurt the integrity of all the other NHL franchises as well?

You wont find an owner as dedicated as the NHL. This is proof of that. The NHL is fighting tooth and nail for a franchise that no one wants.

the thing though with all three of these teams is that the nhl frequently markets and promotes them with the superstars each team respectively has. when is the last time that you saw a coyotes game on national tv that didnt include another marquee team or was in the playoffs?
