The Flyers should have won the Cup in either 1996, 1999, or 2004.

I thought 2004 was their best shot. They finally beat NJ, meeting them in the first round instead of the usual conference finals like in 95 and 2000. No Lindros but very good down the middle with Zhamnov/Roenick (can't remember which one played center and which one played wing on that first line with Amonte), Primeau and Handzus. No Desjardins at all in the playoffs that year either, but I don't know if he would have been enough to push them past TB and Calgary.

But good point made earlier in the thread about Philadelphia being a top heavy team during the Legion of Doom years and how it was related to how the team moved so many pieces to get Lindros so it's no surprise there wasn't much after Brind'Amour.

Zhamnov centered Roenick and Amonte on one line. I remember that team had heart and guts. What hurt them against Tampa were injuries and terrible special teams, especially on the PK.
