That avatar brings back memories. Playoffs? What's dat?

Playoffs from the short 2012-2013 season I think. A few years after Viggo declared his love for the habs. If I remember correctly he even surprised me with a few heartfelt words in french when he introduced Guy Lafleur, or maybe that was another time.

bottom line, I'm overdue for a change hahah

Too many extremes here, the truth is Danault is not a typical number 1 center imo, he should slot as an injury replacement when required and that’s his limit. However, he’s much better than a 3rd line Center. He would be in the appropriate role as a 2nd line center.

The habs haven’t really had a true first line in awhile. For recent times they have mostly been a score/win by committee type of team. I don’t really have much problem with his usage because imo he’s clearly the best we got. If Suzuki turns out to be a number 1 and Danault can skit in the 2c spot I would be completely fine with that and don’t believe it prevents us from contending.

I think the teams biggest problem is the lack of an elite puck mover/quarterback on the PP. Weber gets his goals and provides offence in a different way, but he doesn’t control the pace, and isn’t the best puck mover or PP quarterback. We haven’t replaced Markov and it hurts us tremendously. It’s hard to find a comparable to him out there, but we need one.

We also need an elite, game breaking talent like Kovalev could be, someone who can take over a game and has the ability to create on his own. I don’t know what our shootout record has been, I think it’s mostly a crap shoot, but we don’t even have a true threat there imo. Our best forwards, Danault, Gallagher, Tatar to a lesser extent don’t have that raw skill imo. Drouin should be good and maybe he is. I haven’t looked his numbers up, but we’ve always been missing that game breaker.

Lol....he ain't remotely a #1C on any contending team,

he would have been a 4th line center on a team like Toronto in 2018-2019, or might not have made the team!!!.....Lol

Sure, Toronto is the team to emulate, so much success there. Try reading the rest of the post where I said he shouldn’t be a number 1 center, but he’s not a number 3 either. Anyone who thinks he’s a number 3 doesn’t know wtf they’re watching.

Just pulling some quick stats off NHL.com but for the 2019-2020 season tater is #9 LW in pts, Gallagher is #23 RW in pts and Danault is #38 for a centre. Then you factor for example the lack of PP points especially for Gally & Danault, and their really great 5v5 advanced stats and they are a legit 1st line this past season. You could argue it's not sustainable but the facts show they have been legit.

Could you get the same or better line results by "upgrading Danault"? Maybe, but the whole situation is hardly a weakness so maybe the focus should be on keeping that great value, high ranked line together and figuring how to make the other 3 lines & defence better which are bigger problems and changes could produce much better marginal impact gains.. Much bigger issues would be the other top 6 line needs to be clarified (Domi vs Suzuki at C, Drouin vs Domi at LW, need a new RW or is Armia the guy?), then you figure out what the 3rd line make up will be. The hole at LD still desperately needs to be patch.

Most of the time yes, but not necessary.; The PP can be for some specialists, we see that often with some defenseman.

I see you're feeling better since me and others here start posting in the Danault thread, lol. I can't imagine you without a thread about Danault for more than a month (wink emotion).

A specialist is bullshit. Its a player that is not strong enough to play regular minutes at ES, which means you have to run 11 forwards. Your PP players should come from your top 9ers, nothing else.

CJ spent an entire season using 4th liners, like Weal and Cousins.....just saying.
PD does not have the set up and puck handling skills to play on the PP but he did deserve a shot before a couple of 4th liners....don't want to turn this into a CJ thread, but TOI for certain players, under CJ don't make sense.

If theres someone I hate, its CJ so you wont find any quarrel with me.

But, Danault isnt good on the PP either. He got time there and didnt produce either, this BS argument that if he played on the PP hed produce more is annoying. Nothing in his skill set indicates he would.

With all the hate that Danault gets, I can't tell if your post is sarcastic.
I don't hate him but I hate stuff like this. I have also been watching the spitting chicklets guys and all of the player interviews and although it gives us insight into player's lives it's consistent amongst all of them how they see themselves and money. Based on what I have watched I am not surprised to see this from Danault.

Lol so it's not sarcastic, really didn't expect a good poster like yourself to post something that ridiculous. You do know he is imitating a famous scene from a movie right? Gallagher did the same thing by reenacting a scene from Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

So do you also think Gallagher is a coldblooded asshole that is sending the message to joyfully sing songs and have fun when it comes to a murder case?

It's the whole point of the app(I absolutely despise the app), it's got absolutely nothing to do with him bragging about the money he makes(which is pretty damn great, making over 3 million a year is nothing to sneeze at).

Oh, my bad, I didn't know that it was based on a movie. I have been watching Bizz nasty and Ryan Whitney quite a bit in the last two weeks and man, you should hear the way those guys talk about money. I have watched a couple of guys that talked about winning but most talked a lot about money and partying and upon reading Danault's comments about not really wanting to be sequestered in a hotel for a few months to finish the season I just assumed that his act was related to that.
