Danault is perfect for MTL. QC and have big impact. Underrated player no doubt about that, 5 millions per year is sound good to me. (If Drouin and Anderson can reach 5.5, Danault can reach 5)

Stat of the day - combined games 1 & 2

Suzuki has taken 10-DZone faceoffs and won 7 (that’s 70% success rate), and the 3-he’s lost has led to VGK goals. What that tells me is Toffoli & Caufield have been poor at coverage when a faceoff is lost, just saying..

It's unfortunate that the success of one player must come at the expense of another for some.
Suzuki has improved on faceoffs a ton since the begining of playoffs, and is far from a liability on them. Plus everything else he brings to the team.

Imo we're only there because most players are playing the best hockey of their careers (with the exception of old guys like Perry/Staal/Weber but they're still playing well above what was expected of them at the start of the playoffs)

chandler az
it’s worrisome he clears more rebounds than our D loll
I cant believe the defensive plays the guy made last night. He has great awareness of the players to pick up and with his plastic man body he can contort it so many ways to make adjustments. I dont think I've ever watched a game and been as excited over D plays as this one.
the guy is so unique , that's why fans and heck even management is having a hard time slotting him.
He's proven his worth to me this playoffs. Can you imagine the team without him? They'd be long gone by now.

People should really drop that B.S., there's no underrating, no bashing, no mocking or anything... the only thing we read/hear is how greast the guy is, no one here or elsewhere says he sucks.

It's really getting stupid right now, there's full pages filled with posts praising him, yet posters keep saying he's underrated

MacKinnon say he is a underrated player. So MacKinnon it's stupid to saying that? When he say that it's 19th January 2021...

we're in June you know, and right now, pretty much every single hockey fan in the universe think Danault is doing a good job defensively...

so please, explain to us how he is under rated right now and by who ?

what are people supposed to say, that he has great offense with his 0 goals and 3 assists in 13 games ?

the guy has 1 assist per round, do you think it's good production ? maybe he should be used on the PP with such great offense ?

maybe we should praise Anderson for his offense too ? while at it you know...

He's underrated around the league that's what MacKinnon meant but in Montreal he's overrated by fans\medias
Your latest posts are a clear example of that.

No one...absolutely no one trashed Danault for his defensive abilities.
He's really good defensively but it's not underrating him to say that he kind of sucks offensively.
If you don't agree that he's not good offensively, then you are overrating him.

Danault is today's Plekanec for the Habs.
Plekanec was always getting the toughest match-up, shutting down top opponent, especially during the Desharnais' years and he was pretty good defensively like Danault.....but Danault isn't as good as Plekanec was.

If Danault could find a way just to put up some numbers here and there......

It was funny cause I remember during the DD years how centers were all about "Feeding their wingers'' and "Putting up more points on the board" and that DD was better than Plekanec because he was the best playmakers, so therefore the best center.......but I have to admit that there's seems to have a different pattern emerging in the NHL for centers.

...for Dougie Hamilton, maybe...you don't pay a defensive specialist that kind of dough...

He's the modern day version of Carbonneau. Of course he's worth that much, many people will argue that he's worth more, not less

Move the softies like Tatar and Drouin in the off-season. Keep players like Armia/Lehkonen/Danault, easy call. Let Staal go, sign Perry for 1+ year.

Personally i love Gally and Weber but i would start shopping them around to see if we could get a good return for them.

thoughts? ;)

Even when he's not producing he's still an extremely useful player. Great on draws, shuts down top lines.

He is so freakin good it’s not even funny. Big plays after big plays on defense.

I wonder if he's accepted himself as an elite shutdown center that doesn't need to produce or be in an offensive role.

Things have changed a lot since he said he didn't see himself in a defensive role, playing with Lehkonen and Byron, but rather wanted to play with Gallagher and Tatar.

Now Tatar is in the stands and Danault himself said he's having the time of his life in this playoff run - I'll add, in a shutdown eww n role where he's not producing offensively.

He said that they are successful because everyone accepted their roles and is playing for each other so I could maybe see him taking a pay cut to stay with us.

The two idiots who voted for Marchand as the top defensive forward in the league should have their voting rights revoked.

IMO a winger has no business winning this award anyways as winning faceoffs, especially dzone faceoffs is such an enormous factor in suppressing your opponents offence. It is possible to allow a winger to take more F3 responsibilities so that aspect of the center position isn't set in stone as a sole responsibility but there is no way to get around the importance of dzone draws.

Bergeron should have won the award again as he is a much better skater than Barkov and is better on draws. The Selke vote is often a bit of a joke. Having a puny winger who is often the first forward to keave the dzone get 2 first place votes and Anze Kopitar not even in the top 10 just highlights how unknowledgeable the voters are and exposes their annual ritual for the gong show that it is.
