So like if Danault remains the top C a month from now, and Galchenyuk is getting 3rd line minutes he'll definitely be the new Desharnais.

But Desharnais will be the new 2nd line C.

I can totally see his deficiencies but the thing is that line is dominant and he fits well there. I cant see why anyone wants to break that line up.

I can't see Danault ever reaching a Bergeron level, but Julien being able to develop this already solid 2way player who is still 23, into a player hitting their full potential. I think Danault has enough talent and smarts to become a decent 2C, but it was unclear how he would develop under therrien. Having him under Claude is a game changer.

Might be more true for our other prospects, particularly the Dmen.

No he won't. Desharnais is 1 dimensional weak midget who was sheltered by Therrien for for too long. Danault is simply the best we got right now. Since Radu plays like a center already, having a puck-fetching 2-way player becomes a real asset on that line.

30 pts in 58 games and not all of those on the top line. I'd say he's pretty close to that now.

The more impressive thing is he's scored 29 of his 30 points at even strength, tied for 55th in the league and ahead of other centres like Duchene, Thornton, Mackinnon, Johasen and Kopitar.

Kindly factor in everything else he is doing on the ice.
When will people clue in to the fact that 90 some odd % of hockey is spent not scoring points.
What the player is bringing to the TEAM during those critical minutes is what makes him an asset.
How many highly talented offensive specialists have never sniffed a championship because when push came to shove they were not assets at all but detriments to the TEAM goal.

In the not too distant future...
His real seat will be where Pleky sits with Lehk on his left and we have a couple of good options on his right.
They will often lead in icetime and don't be surprised if he is given an increased PK role and less PP time.

Danault is one guy who'll definitely benefit from Julien's structure, which has a bigger emphasis on cycling and controlling the puck in the offensive zone, and less on scoring repeatedly on the rush.

Look at his point totals and he's not far off some very good names. Better than some too. I'm not willing to crown him a legit top 6 C as of yet but he's doing one helluva impersonation. Way beyond expectations. He's got first rate linemates but he's done a remarkable job.

As amazing as Radulov and Patches are right now Danault is doing quite a bit on that line. He's far from a passenger. Pleks or DD make that line a lot worse if they get swapped there. Hell as good as Galchenyuk is there's a good chance that Danault's just a better fit. He's willing to do a huge amount of the dirty work which he excels at. Smart passer. There's already a surplus of skill on that line having a guy like Danault on that line helps Patches and Rads a lot. One of the best lines we've had in a long long time.

Danault has his limitations and does have a brain cramp here and there but he's still centering a very successful 1st line as a freaking rookie and not looking out of place. Skill wise? Yeah but he's very active and making things happen. If he can still be better (which is very likely) then MB deserves huge credit for this move.

I think calling Petry our best D is really pushing it. But it was a shrewd if not pricey acquisition by Bergevin.

I think the demands of the 80 game NHL schedule is getting to him. He's still playing well, but you notice it in the details, missed passes, missed shots, being at the wrong place in the offensive zone. Not bashing him, he's done outstanding and he might be on his way to becoming a core player.
