No need for that
Was not referring to any of your post that's for sure
Wait... why do we hate Danault?
Hating Danault makes zero sense, so I’m trying to wrap my head around it.
Nobody 'hates' Danault. We are arguing that he is not suited to a no. 2C role. Wow. What a crime.
terrific 3rd line C. shouldn't be in an offensive role. stick lehkonen there too. I'd put kotka between tatar & gally.
Mis-used as per usual with the last two coaches !
Oh yeah and apparently it’s because he is a franco lol
Good , Happy to hear that, but i think the last 2 posts you reply to me where dumb as hell, dont take yourself so seriously it's just a hockey messages boards
''Nothing funny about it''.....that's quite funny tho
Danault play whete the coach ask him to play point blank, is there because because he is most accomplish center at the moment. I dont like to see him play the spot he is right now but the reality is that Kotka cant play top 6 big minutes against the best opposition night after night in this league rn no matter what some people may think on hf. Danault playing like Danault is, reliable defensively & limited offensively, he create alot more turn over then he can commit, hes taking big defensive face off and has a great work ethic, he play like he suppose to do and he rarely cost us a lost. Everybody know that he isnt suit for that role but that wheres' he'll p'ay till Kotka gain more experience then his 25 nhl games and be ready to eat more ice.
Will he score 10 goals this season? How about 5?
How is he being misused? Is there another C on the Habs better suited to matching up other teams' top Cs?
Well said, we all know Danault will be our third line center eventually but we shouldn't really even be to concerned about this year we can easily find ourselves outside of a playoff spot. Play the experienced guy who is reliable and let the kid develop his game and have fun... if somehow we make the playoffs then cool but if not, I really didn't expect us too soo
He's being played as 2C but offers little offence. A 2C should be strong at both ends. He's being played on the wrong line (which is an MB problem and not a PD problem).
He's strong on the forecheck, creates turnovers in the neutral zone, is a good playmaker. All of which leads to goals if he has linemates who can score but are also responsible defensively.
The Tatar - Danault - Gallagher line is a good line, it's doing its job. Why mess with it right now?
This is why I'm hoping we fall sooner than later. Put our young Colt in a position where he can train up to his role. No sheltering, let him work on his details while allowing him to develop his offensive game.
As long as we are trying to finish 8th in our conference this won't happen.
I really enjoy the game of Danault . He will never put a lot of points on the stats sheet , but he creates space , wins battles , creates turn over , do the dirty jobs so that his linemates can have more space in the paying zone . He 's also very good on the PK .
I can't believe all the negative comments i read in this thread ; I am so deceived by the poor understanding of the game of the Habs fans .
Danault is a 30-40 point, 2 way Centerman... solid hockey player
It’s how Julien uses him, similarly to how Pleks was used
We have too many players playing in wrong role. Geez we have career AHL'er playing on second PP unit. People just need to get a grip and realize this team is not that good yet. Many guys playing higher in lineup than they should be not just Danault,
That doesn't matter. He'll be elite in pucks chipped into the corner per 60 rel.
What is a PD problem -- did you mean to say CJ instead?
not at all actually, all he does is push the puck forwards like all bottom 6 players do. An no he doesnt create any more turnover than the other top 6 Habs.
Danault is not a good playmaker..come on now.
I agree with your previous statement, we just have nobody to play there for now, but let's not pretend like Danault is a good fit there.
He's a 3rd line center, that's it.
He is not completely void of offense, so he can create some things, but he should really be a 3rd center.
In a perfect world he'd be a 3C and Drouin would play on a 2nd line.
Oh and Petry wouldn't be our 1st D.
I don't understand why we're arguing. Everyone agrees that ideally he'd play on the 3rd line.
His line is doing great right now, you can't deny it. They have chemistry and Tatar in particular really seem to enjoy playing with Danault.
HF needs to get rid of this idea like years ago that:
Goalscorer - Goalscorer - Goalscorer
Goalscorer - Goalscorer - Goalscorer
Defence - Defense - Defence
Grinder - Grinder - Grinder
Absolutely no team in the NHL is build that way and for good reason. You build four lines that have chemistry and compliment each other with the goal of getting offensive contribution at LEAST from your top 3 lines. Then you decide on the matchups. Your 1st line ends up being the one that has the ability to defend against the line that gets the most ice-time on the other side (their first line), while forcing them to play in their end and potentially putting up points.
Danault's skill set compliments Tatar and Gallagher. All three play an up-tempo game that puts pressure on the other teams' best players and they can defend if they have to. They're not perfect, they'll have off nights but that's the goal.
Since this is really about Kotkaniemi for most of the negative posters here, I will state that the 3rd line C role is the perfect spot for him right now. He's not forced to defend against top offensive players (because he can't yet, he's 18... especially at C) and he gives that line some offensive potential. I'm all for him playing PP1 though.
All in all, we are talking about right now and the players CJ has to work with right now and what they've shown. I have absolutely no issue with Danault's or Kotkaniemi's usage. Things will change, of course.
You are the only poster to think like that. So, YOU need to get rid of this idea.
