I am so sick and tired of hearing "who cares about Harper they will sign Mike Trout in 2 years!"

These are the ages of the Phillies core for the bulk of this season.

Nola - 26
Hoskins -26
Realmuto - 28
Kingery - 25
Franco - 26
Segura - 29

They are all at ripe baseball ages. If the Phillies add a 26-27 year old Harper, he fits right in with that group. You essentially open up a solid 4-6 year window of contention.

If you pass on Harper and wait TWO YEARS to add what will then be a 29 year old Trout...not only do you delay contention 2 years but you slice your window in half.

Why are we giving up a chance to open up a 5 year window now for maybe a 2 year one in 2 years??

Sign Harper now. I am tired of the games.

Because signing Trout means 8 guaranteed Championships.

It’s still okay if we miss out on Machado and Harper cause we could still have Arenado and Trout

I’m a MASSIVE Arenado fan.

But seriously I want a shiny new toy like Harper.

Heyman is just Boras's puppet. Boras is doing the same thing he did with the Red Sox and JD Martinez. I truly believe Harper is signing here. Boras is just trying to squeeze every last penny out of the Phillies.

Listening to Salisbury's podcast and he said Boras keeps going as long as he sees light, as soon as he determines that all the doors and windows are closed, he moves quickly on the deal that's best.

Eventually teams will stop answering and move on with their team in spring training, at that point, is when we will have a resolution. But for all we know SF and Washington are helping him drive up the price.

Because guess who's Anthony Rendon's agent?

340M over 10 meets 3 requirements for Boras:

Last big name standing
Largest contract ever
Largest AAV contract ever.

340M makes a lot of sense.

Harper getting $40 million more than Machado would be ridiculous and would make Klentak's comments seem like a joke.

I personally think Harper is better and he is clearly a better fit for the Phillies after the moves they have made this off season. Putting Harper's left handed power bat into the middle of the lineup and upgrading Williams defensively in RF would be a game changer.

I think Machado is better, but if people prefer Harper, whatever. What I don't get is talking about fit for players getting 10 year contracts. When you're tossing around that kind of dough, you better get the best damn player. Not the best fit. It's baseball. This is essentially an individual sport.

Harper wasn't good defensively, but even if that season was an outlier, he's a corner outfielder. Not exactly changing the game defensively as a corner OFer.

I saw somebody tweet this morning that the Nationals offer of 10/300 wasn't quite accurate with deferments, it would be closer to 10/244
