There's not a chance Philly will want MDZ back, after scratching him for 12 straight games the season before and failing to trade him at the deadline. And Gagner might make some sense, but not with a year left on an awful contract.

Jim Benning is going to have to work a lot harder than that to unload either of these guys. Of course the easiest solution would have been to not sign them in the first place. You'd like to think it's a case of 'lesson learned' but probably not.

I, along with most other philly fans, would happily do this trade.

Del Zotto would be an upgrade on the Flyers' defense. He plays like a steady Vet until he inevitably goes done with some kind of injury every season but I'd take that over a full season of Mac Donald in a heartbeat.

Gagner is meh but so is Jordan Weal.

If Philly trades Farmer Boy it should be to open a slot for a youngster. A defender as the return makes little sense. Rather have Weal over Gagner as well. No need to do this trade.

This is just a proposal to dump MacDonalds salary. Pretty sure Hakstol would cut the power to the building before he allowed any trade paperwork to be faxed involving his boy. In reality this is a win for Philly, as Gagner likely plays in the NHL as their 4th line C Mehtera is nothing special at this point in his career.

Philly has no need currently to dump Farmers salary. We are fine against the cap
and have a few expiring contracts pending...ie Lehtera etc.
