So if the Astros have to play in front of empty stadiums this season, does Manfred rethink their "punishment" since the biggest thing was having to deal with the public?
Just thinking out loud.
The Phillies just signed one of the top international prospects in the 2019-20 class, Venezuelan center fielder Yhoswar Garcia. They were supposed to sign him earlier but he was suspended as it turns out he is 2 years older then he said he was.
When is the last time this team signed a hyped international prospect?
Jhailyn Ortiz and Luis Garcia.
They usually go for quantity rather than quality.
Why haven't the Phillies ever attempted to sign Cuban and posted Japanese players?
I don’t think they neglect it. They’re just not appealing for whatever reason. They were a finalist with that one Cuban power hitter (forget his name) that ultimately went to Arizona a few years ago for example. They got that one Cuban pitcher (forget his name too) that absolutely sucked but was a big name at the time his signing too.
Whoa, I just looked up the Cuban guy because I couldn't remember his name (Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez). He died a few years back apparently in a car accident! Yikes.
That’s really paid huge dividends.
phils are wasting the prime of harper and others. pitching staff is a joke; how this wasn't addressed is mind boggling.
Wasting primes is Phillies tradition going back to the 19th century.
no excuse with a billionaire owner right now. before they were just cheap bastards and a piss poorly run organization.
pointless to sign harper if not going to try to win.
AP sources: MLB could skip draft; service time big issue
MLB network playing the 1979 Phils cubs game right now
Is that the one that ended up like 23-21 or something?
Generation-K flashback for the Mets.
You can't throw that hard and hold up. All of these guys blow out.
so yeah...Phils might wanna think of getting JT signed..because he is getting a years service no matter what

In the Time of COVID-19, Sweeping Changes Are Made to the Amateur Draft
Now that the details are out, I guess every draftable high schooler who isn't completely guaranteed to go early has to go to college. And the terms are rolled over to 2021, so if you're a college Junior, you're just SOL.
I'm sure this will eventually come with a reduction in MiLB teams. The developmental system is well on its way to being gutted.
Sucks for the players. Junior Colleges are going to be loaded next year though. Haven't read the articles yet but I'm sure there is a cap on undrafted players. If not the Phillies better clean up.
