just add a second bye week. It is the tv money that matters more than stadium revenue. You get an extra week of games for tv, players get more rest, and you don't have to give players a 6.25% raise in salary to account for the extra game

17 games is dumb. It unbalances home/away. Going to 18 would then mean 3 extra weeks because you definitely would need another bye. 16 games with 3 rounds of playoffs plus Super Bowl is perfect as is.
