@ThatGuy11920: Is there a legitimate possibility that the Flyers will sign Wyatt Kalynuk, Wade Allison, & Tanner Laczynski after their NCAA seasons are over? #FlyersMailbag

Not too sure about Kalynuk this summer, but there’s a very good chance that Laczynski and Allison both sign.

Laczynski told the Flyers he didn’t want to sign last spring because Ohio State was close to a Frozen Four title and the Buckeyes wanted another kick at the can so he stayed and so did a couple others who could have gone pro.

Allison is probably the biggest lock of the three to sign. It’s my understanding that he would have signed last offseason but he was still recovering from an ACL tear and knew that he wouldn’t start the season on time so he wanted to have one more college season instead of starting his pro career behind the 8-ball as a healthy scratch.

I think Kalynuk is a high probability b/c of his age, he turns 22 in April, another year in college and he starts his first pro season at 23.
With 3 USHL seasons and 2 college seasons, he's ready for the jump.
AHL schedule is 65-70 games plus possibility playoffs v 37 or so college games.
Since he's close to physically mature, staying in college may slow his development.

Seven of twenty (eight if you count Hagg :naughty:) with Frost and Farabee around the corner, and Ratcliffe, Laczynski as dark horses next year.

While you can make the case that Frost has outperformed him in juniors, it's not by a huge margin.
Glass was the #6 pick by Vegas, and his size 6'2 185, gives him some upside as he fills out that Frost can't touch.
Glass is also RH.

Frost might be 2 inches shorter than Glass, but their weight is about the same.

Glass missed most of the last 2 months with an injury...their PPG are very similar...with Frost getting a slight edge. But Glass plays in a tougher division than Frost (and of course in a different league)

Why would Glass being slightly larger give him "upside... Frost can't touch"?

If Glass is going to be a lot better it won't be because of 2 inches smh

If you are happy about he THN ranking and you don't like hextall because he hired hakstol you can go **** yourself
That makes no sense.

Few had issue with Hextall and the drafting. That has nothing to do with Hextall refusing to fire Hak to go after Trotz or Quenv.

such an odd thought process that if you like one, you have to like the other.

its comparing apples to oranges here. Actual talent trumps coaching any day of the week. Coaching changes are easy to implement, talent changes are not. If you think these two areas are on the same level you're wrong..

What are you talking about? Are you saying if you like the amateur scouting done under Hextall you have to like Hextall overall? You do realize amateur scouting is one part of being a GM as is professional scouting, contractually negotiations, trading, and hiring coaches and developmental staff.

So if someone is only good at part of their job you have to accept him being terrible at the rest. Not sure I understand the point you are trying to make.

Haven't we seen over the past 4 years, at a minimum, that talent does in fact not trump coaching? The Flyers have always had talent on the roster, but coaching* has routinely limited the reasonable amount of success the roster has enjoyed.

*A small caveat here for some of the bad roster decisions regarding talent of the lesser roster players, a fault attributed to management.
