Yea that's 3 of the top 4 out of that draft. It happened shortly after Laberge was drafted so can't really comment on his progress , Ruby took till this season in the AHL to really start looking promising and Allison was looked good right from the get go . I guess we will have to wait cause this year is a write off for all three .

That's why it's "safety in numbers". Keep the pipeline full because injuries are unpredictable and can derail development.
This is exactly why it makes no sense to trade prospects away or shift focus away from drafting just because “not all of them will make the team”, as some have suggested.

You never know. Maybe a great prospect gets ruined by injury or maybe an unlikely source breaks out and becomes an impact player. Trading your lottery cards away when their they’re an unknown and their value is low is a great way to the the franchise.

Fazleev was a fairly good 6th round pick all things considered. He had really good production as a 19 year old on not so great team (thanks Trav!) but he had a fatal flaw- his skating.

Hain is the Flyers only current connection to North Dakota.

Something’s gotta happen with the pending influx of forwards. NAK, Rubtsov, Vorobyev, Kase, Laczynski, Allison, Frost, etc are all close. A few of those players should be playing in the NHL now. With the amount of depth that the Flyers have, there are names I’m forgetting, AHL/NHL tweeners, and others a half season away from showing that they’re more ready than projected.

Obviously we want to keep the best ones so they're not going anywhere, unless there's some kind of blockbuster they're involved in (which is seriously doubt).

Problem is, the ones that are left on the outside, the trade-able guys, aren't worth much at all because they're both unproven and don't have the potential to offset that risk, so we might as well keep them and pray they can exceed expectations for us.

That's why prospects so rarely get traded and why we probably shouldn't be doing such.

Ratcliffe, loser of Allison/Laczynski, Strome, Sushko
Kalynuk, Hogberg, Wylie

They'll join Rubtsov, Laberge, Bunnaman, Twarynski, Kase

Lycksell isn't burning up the SHL so he might stay.
Zamula isn't eligible
Cates, Farabee, O'Brien will probably stay in college, the later two may head directly to the NHL in 2020

Frost, ratcliffe, sushko, and Strome will be here because they’re signed

Zamula will stay in Calgary

Laczynski and kalynuk are interesting cases. Both could sign, but laczynski could even be NHL

I think Hogberg comes over. But it wouldn’t shock me if he stays another season kind of like Lindblom.

Later in the season it will be telling who signs ATOs for the Phantoms
