@LegionOfDoom91 My post in that last thread was supposed to say “I’m NOT worried about it” basically for the same reasons you said.

It’s rare that a player won’t sign, just like it’s rare for a player to ask for a trade, or any other way you lose a young player you want to keep. Is it possible he doesn’t want to sign? Sure, but there’s no reason to worry until there’s a reason to worry.

All he has to do is look at the organizational roster, and see the one area where the Flyers are weak are RWs who can shoot.

Konecny, Allison, Laczynski, JOB, NAK, and Farabee/Lindblom/Kase can play both sides. All of these players have goal scoring potential to varying degrees. It’s certainly far from a “weakness.”

Not "goal scoring," shooting.
How many Flyers and Flyer prospects are plus shooters?

Laczynski: 3.44 Shots Per Game (NCAA Career)

Farabee: 3.44 Shots Per Game (NCAA stats so far); he also was one of the draft eligible leaders in shots per game during his draft year

Ratcliffe: 4.09 Shots Per Game Tied for 3rd in OHL among FWDS with 22 Games Played)

I’m hoping that the Flyers go hard after RW Cole Caulfield in the upcoming draft. 3.80 Shots Per Game; 2nd most behind Hughes on the U18 UNSTDP.

Alex DeBrincat was thought of in the same way. Look at him now. A 5’7” smurf who’s a top line scorer in the NHL. Caulfield is legit, a much better skater than DeBrincat, is hard on the puck, wins a bunch of battles, etc. Exactly what a small player needs to do to succeed. Skate past everybody and be strong on the puck.

Don’t care if a guy is 5’6” or 7’0”, if he can play, he can play.

With that said I doubt the Flyers would really target Caulfield.

Who do you think they’ll target? It’s be amazing if Alex Newhook fell to them but I have my doubts that'll happen. Victor Soderstrom is my go to guy if they plan on drafting a defenseman in the 1st.

I dont wanna be putting words in anyone's mouth but its clearly implied that he was referring to quality and not quantity. Ratty has a snipe but the poster was also still talking about RWers.

Honestly no idea. It’s pretty early. I just don’t think the Flyers are a team that will really take smaller high end offensive players a whole lot & especially early.

In that case Allison & (like you said) Ratcliffe. Allison has 3 shots this season and 2 of them were goals.

Small is not synonymous with short.
Martel was short AND small (very light) which means he's easily pushed around.

A guy who's 5'8 160 had better be ultra fast and quick.
A guy who's 5'8 190 is going to have a lot of leverage against bigger players.
NAK for example is 5'10 205, he's certainly not "small."

I definitely agree Allison has a snipe on him. I've been pushing him harder than anyone on here since his draft day. But this is exactly the point that the poster was making, that Wade has little in front of him as far as high end shooters go on our RW. I'm not aware of Ratty ever playing the RW but they are essentially our two best shooting prospects in terms of shot quality-- that's what Dead was pointing out from the start as far as I can tell from the dialogue.
