You guys, according to the main boards we might as well just make a spot for Provorov in the ECHL for the rest of his career. It's over. He's done.

Erkamps has been beyond awful tonight.

The entire team is outclassed.

Not much any individual on the team can do. You could put prime Nik Lidstrom on the Brandon team and it wouldnt help because as a team, London is just far better.

Gonna make a bold prediction and say Brandon bounces back, plays Red Deer in the tiebreak, and meets London in the championship... and wins

Its 9-1 and the refs just called a one handed slash on Brandon. Talk about a bunch of *******s. A guy that makes a call like that isnt gonna earn any respect any time soon.

I'd rather see that than people saying he's the next Doughty. Those posts are more fun to bump in a few years.

I refuse to believe Brandon is as bad as they showed. RN gets London on a back-to-back. That should be a good game.

Who cares? Stay off main board. Not much worthwhile there.

It was horrible in there tonight. All the fans of other teams (probably 70% Leafs fans), who are incredibly jealous of Provorov being a Flyer, acting like hyenas on raw hamburger criticizing an off game from Provy. None fathoming the idea that the rest of the team played 10x worse.

It's bad for your health wading in there.

Can someone offer a grounded take on Marner? I haven't ever watched him play. And, I'm assuming I can't draw reasonable conclusions from slobbering accounts of Leafs fans. If Marner plays in the NHL next year, what kind of role would he have?

He's Giroux like, not sure they see him as a center though.

Yeah, last year at the draft we all wanted Provy is we went with a D, but also hoped Marner somehow fell to us if we went with a forward. He is good.

I would have rather the Flyers drafted Provorov over Marner anyway. It is better to start a rebuild with defensemen than forwards because they traditionally take longer to develop and are harder to acquire thru trade. Although they are not in as terrible a situation as Edmonton's because they have Rielly, but Toronto could be setting themselves up to have to chase defensemen like the Oilers.

i highly doubt that considering toronto seems somewhat competent at drafting and edmonton has hit on exactly one player outside the first round in the last decade.

Edmonton's problem isn't just drafting outside of the 1st round. It is also problem of team construction. Defensemen traditional take a few seasons to round out their game at the NHL level. But while those defensemen are learning, the young forwards drafted before them are stuck in a losing environment. How many of them are poisoned now? McLellan called out their effort already in year one.

Now Toronto won't be as bad but if their forwards hit quickly, they will be under pressure to find much more developed defensemen and won't want to live thru the hard growing pains of rookies. They will have to go thru what Holmgren went thru with the Flyers, constantly searching for plug and play defensemen.

uh yeas that is just their problem, it is quite difficult to develop a competent defense core when you're relying only on free agents and first round picked forwards.

also this whole "poisoned" and "edmonton ruins players" garbage needs to stop, yakupov sucks and is a bust but outside of that their high first round picks are all been great players, there is just literally no forward or defense depth around them on the team whatsoever, again, due to the drafting.
