The best, and probably the worst thing about hockey is that it’s primarily a gate driven business so the fans have a disproportional say in the running of the team. If enough fans stop paying the organization has to do something different. I don’t know when enough Flyers fan will abandon ship to make the necessary changes? Will it be after next season? 2 more like this? 5 more? I do think it’s coming though.
Did the Flyers Box Office sell out with the limited amount of seats this season?

I'd much prefer to keep Farabee and use Eichel's salary to sign Hamilton.

I can agree with this as a strategic choice, albeit with a wider context, but you put yourself out there with the implication that you wouldn't trade Farabee straight up for Eichel as seemingly a player value comparison. If Fletcher were told that he could get Eichel in a straight 1-for-1 for Farabee, he has to pounce on that and use a fraction of what it should have cost him to ensure that Seattle takes either JvR or Voracek.

Good, now the game this Saturday will really be worth watching.
The kids need all the pro games they can get.
Tons of Fire Power. Really, the only question for the Phantoms: who do you sit? Hopefully either Bigras or Pouliot on defense. But on the forwards very less certain since the 4 lines are all complimentary. Each line is playing pretty good. BTW, the Phantoms encountered the same crap as the Flyers and play much better as a unit. Sure every minute sometimes seems less organized and more chaotic than needs to be but they are definitely having more fun. Millennials....;-))))

With the caveat that Philly sends its top specialists to get an objective assessment of his health prior to any deal.

Farabee was 12th in pp/60 (4th in goals/60) in the NHL at 5x5 bouncing around lines, he's already an elite scorer at 20 years old, and he's still filling out.
He can play both wings, has a high Hockey IQ, a great shot, and has a lot of upside left.
He's also a solid PK forward.

Seriously, I'm not trading him for Eichel straight up, Eichel is what he is, a very good but not elite scorer (he plays a lot of minutes and plays a lot of "garbage" minutes. Stat padder).

Last three years, he's 57th in pp/60 (5x5), behind Giroux and JVR. 107th in goals/60. 115th in xGF/60. 105th in xGF%.
On the PP, 92nd in xGF/60, 22nd pp/60, 74th in goals/60 (Olofsson is 5th).

Eichel will be 25 next season, how much upside is left? He has a serious neck injury and wants experimental surgery. He plays with Reinhart, Skinner and Olofsson, he's not going to get a huge boost on most teams (he'd have to be the 1C to play with better talent, think JVR and TK/Voracek would be a huge upgrade?).

If he was a Couts, Barkov, Bergeron type defender, he'd be worth pursuing. But he's not. Has never gotten a single Selke vote.

It'll be before Christmas of next season because they are going to play like total shit again and fans are going to stop showing up like they did in late November of Hakstol's final year.

Thanks for your response, dead. We disagree on Eichel's ability to be a dynamic play driver and a major improvement in an unspoken but glaring weak spot on this team: puck movement. I won't discount your hesitation about his injuries; if there is any franchise needing a "Danger, Will Robinson" attitude about dealing for players with injuries, it is the Flyers.

I am also of the same mind as you about overusing the word elite. Is Eichel elite? Not at present and probably won't ever be. But he has shown that he can be in that next tier down. In that same vein, though, Farabee doesn't deserve the 'e' word, either.

Finally, sure, Eichel isn't a Selke candidate. But neither are many of the most dynamic offensive players in the NHL.

Most of the scratches are prospects which is why i won't pay to watch these games. I notices that several of the Devils who placed the last game are in the line-up tonight, but not the Flyers
