Can't wait until he reaches the NHL. Provy will be the franchise defenseman for this team. He's going to be the guy that does it all. One thing underrated about him is he will dish out some punishment when he sees fit. He is a elite cerebral defeneman that knows when to use his tools at the right moment. I think he's unmatched when it comes to hockey sense compared to all the other d prospects.

That's the key. Anyone who has smarts as their top rated "skill" is a few a great player. That is only magnified in dmen. I hope he wins the Calder.

Gonna be tough for him to win the Calder unless Gostisbehere misses a chunk of the season and he gets tossed on the 1st PP unit.

Sanheim to Fazleev to Sanheim

Just saw the Brandon highlights from last night. Looks like Provorov could have had 5 goals! Saskatoon didn't get the memo to pick up the trailer.

Wha's impressive with the Sanheim goal, is it's 5v5 there. It looks like they are on a PP.

Oh....and after 1 period today, Sanheim with a goal, Fazleev with an assist on the only Calgary goal.

So the junior seasons are almost up.

How do the playoffs work? Who gets to play for the Memorial Cup? Isn't that the the trophy to win?

Each league has their own playoffs & the three winners of the league's join the host team in a four team round robin tournament for the Memorial Cup. Red Deer out of the WHL is the host team this year so they're one of the four teams to be there already regardless of what they do in the WHL playoffs.

Bowling Green won tonight so they'll advance into the WCHA tournament (Friedman was held pointless though). I'd have to imagine they'll need to win it all to have a chance at the NCAA tournament (conference winners get automatic invitations).

Cornell (Willcox was held pointless) lost so they're out of the ECAC tournament but might have a shot still getting invited to the NCAA tournament.

Fazleev's play was very good. Stayed back to cover Sanheim's point as he went in, followed the play, two great possession dekes threatening to shoot, and backing in the D, then back to Travis for the goal. Very nice looking play by both guys.

Bowling Green was in almost the exact same position last year. Ranked 16th, got knocked out of their conference tournament and then got knocked out by an automatic bid.
