Who knew we would be posting in this thread so soon....

Let’s start the conversation with the upcoming draft... will they take a forward or will they take a D for the first time since Matt Spencer?

Mike Oke and Co crushed the draft last year, let’s hope for a follow up performance that’s just as good. Get this team back to a contender.

Some personal favourites of mine I would like to see Oke consider at 15....

Hunter Haight, C from Elgin Middlesex
Matthew Poitras, RW from Whitby Wildcats
Zak Lavoie, C from Toronto Nats
Aidan Castle, C from Toronto Jr.Canadiens

Petes need to find a #1 defenceman for the McTavish years.

Doesn't necessarily need to be this draft, but it will be one of their better opportunities.

Very true... Petes got very lucky finding Chisholm in round 2. Let’s hope they can replicate that at 23 this year.

Sam Stern from Stern Scouting posted a list of American prospects on twitter that OHL teams should be targeting in the upcoming draft.......some of these have NCAA commitments, but I'm guessing that these may not be as likely as some of those not listed.

I wonder how much it might help for Nick Robertson (member of the USA team at the last WJC) to reach out to some of these players to promote the Petes prior to the draft.......:DD

Gavin Hayes RW ……brother plays in Hamilton
Spencer Sova LD…….dual citizen from Windsor
Max Namestnikov LW……..NCAA
Zach Filak C……….NCAA
Zion Green RW
Matthew DiMarsico LW
Ryan Abraham C
Nolan Abraham RW
Chris Able RD……….NCAA
Quinn Finley LW
Evan Konyen C
Tyler Catalano RW
Micah Berger LW
Jack Larrigan RW……..NCAA
Alex Fendler RW
Chase Pietila RD
Vinny Borgesi RD…….NCAA
Gavin Brindley RW
Tucker Shedd D
Owen Baker RW

I highly highly doubt we go the American route. Didn’t Namestnikov brother play for London? I bet they pick him.

Not an easy draft to mock......some great Americans in the mix and some guys who are ranked anywhere from middle of Round 1 to start of Round 3 depending on who you ask.

IMO, the top 5 D are:
Nelson
McCoy
George
Sova
Jovanovic

If any of these guys are available for the Petes in Round 1, they may take a defenseman.

If they go with a forward in the first round and save the D picks for 23 and 35 (like Brock Otten and his team suggest), then I'm hoping one of these guys is available at 15:

David Goyette, C - South Kent Academy
Zak Lavoie, C - Toronto Nats
Hunter Haight, C - Elgin Middlesex
Matthew Poitras, RW - Whitby Wildcats
Aidan Castle, C - Toronto Jr.Canadiens

Cedrick Guindon, C - Rockland Nationals
Sam Alfano, RW from Southern Tier Admirals

Sova in round 1 would be awesome. Then two forwards in round 2.

Nice job getting Haight, but I would have preferred Jovanovic with the 23rd pick rather than Leonard

Jovanovic stats worry me.... no goals and only a few assists play for the Marlies? Leonard sounds intriguing though... physical, elite skater with some offensive upside.

Well, any last thoughts on what we might do tomorrow? Quite a few top 100 picks.... Oke has a chance to really stock up the prospect pool.

Been happy with what he's done at the draft recently so just gonna trust his judgement. I'd love to see a big blueliner to join the mix. If we went F/D/D in the first two rounds, I would be okay with that. Gonna be lots of ice for young players next season.

Best player in the OHL draft not going first

" No. 15 — Peterborough Petes
Nicholas Moldenhauer, RW, Toronto Titans
"Big strong winger who can do it all. As he gets older and strong he'll be able to dominate. He dominated his age group at times this year. He can play up and down the lineup. There is not a lot of bust potential with him.""

If Davies mock is fairly accurate, one of George, Leonard, Jovanovic should still be available 23rd.

I would have a very tough time passing up McCoy.
