Was this the big "surprise" at SOTU?

No. The big surprise was that Gnash suspended his campaign for presidency. According to Gnash's "statement", Gnash found out that should he win, he would have to live at the White House full time and couldn't paint it Predators Gold. Also he would have to miss all the Preds games. So Gnash decided he would suspend his campaign for presidency to concentrate on the upcoming season and bringing the Cup to Smashville.
