The only concern I have with Cehlarik's game so far is his straight line speed (although he flashed a great rush last night). He actually has a good first step and quick in tight spaces. His positioning and active stick are pretty darn good. Looking good so far. I still would like to see a Heinen on the line with Krejci and Cehlarik. The high IQ line. Debrusk brings some speed and hustle however I think Heinen can do a little of that as well.

I think finish could be an issue with such line

Though Debrusk finish has been just ok also

when was the last time DeBrusk scored? Honestly can`t recall?
I think it was the goal that bounced off his chest lol. On the power play I believe. What the hell is wrong with him, post concussion syndrome? He’s playing like a shell of his former self.

He can’t play his off wing and he has been asked to do it the last few months....we have no quality RW’s on the roster besides Pasta...he’s trying but it clear he’s not comfortable at all on the right but we have no choice unless Don adds some talent

If we get a RWer at deadline and DeBrusk goes back to LW he will be fine again

I would like to agree with this, but DeBrusk was already playing poorly at LW.

Yet he gets, and this is simply MO, a huge free pass here from many. I like the kid a ton, think eventually he`ll be a yearly 30 goal guy, heart and soul player but he`s still a kid and I think that we see a guy like Heinen get shoved upstairs due to lack of productivity and I mention that because Butch himself has stated he likes his game away from the puck a ton but he needed to clear his head, well, what about Jake? I don`t see him necessarily hurting the team defensively but I`m also not seeing him do nearly enough to be continually run out on DK`s line while posting zippo offensively?

The issue is Backes...It is not Debrusk Cehlarik Heinen Donato etc...

That simple.

I like it...Hopefully we see some line shuffling between 2nd and 3rd line...heck 1st line.

I've said this before, but must be Cassidy didn't see it.

I'd like to see Bergeron centering DeBrusk and Pasta and have Krejci between Marchand and Cehlarik.

May work may not, but it would give you two world class wingers on your first two lines along with the best two-center in the game and another pretty dam good center and young big body with skill who knows how to read plays and I think he would mesh well with Marchy like he has with Kreech.

Anything like that. Play in pairs instead of one big line. Big line can still play come big game situations and on the powerplay.

I thought Cehlarik played his best game of the year against the Isles. Actually, I thought he had two subpar games before that, where he was forcing passes and not carrying the puck, then rebounded strong with that Isles game. I thought he had another good game tonight against the Rangers.

OT: I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE PASTA PUT ON THAT LINE! Cehlarik stole the puck and fed the D on Pasta's goal. Really hoping they keep that line together for 10 games to see what they have in it. I think it could be outstanding. And it would let them change their approach to finding a RW'er for Bergeron which I think is a lot easier than finding someone to fix the DeBrusk-Krejci dynamic.

All the ice time? He's only averaging 14 minutes a night, and he has 3 goals in 8 games. He's also made a lot of fantastic passes that were near misses. As he gets more settled and comfortable with his line mates, those near misses are going to start going in too.

We are talking about Jake?

I guess he was referring to DeBrusk being better.

I wish Cassidy would have tried something like this much earlier. So many here calling for it. Would have helped Don assess the team needs and perhaps spark a few players.

Now will Cassidy continue with the new line ups?

BTW hoping Hughes gets a call up soon. Trent is ok but think the speed tenacity and skills of Hughes could help that 3rd line.

Cehlarik to me is too slow. Don't get me wrong, he's done some good things, but he's just so slow. And that turnover in the 3rd period was egregious. Not sure I like him as a long term solution in the top 9.

He did look slow last nite. But I think the whole team got slow about 1/4 into that 3rd period.
Im gonna chalk it up to the 3rd game in 4 nites and a B2B

For a slow guy he was pretty quick on Pasta's goal to chase that dump in to the corner and pass it to Miller. But I know what you mean. One game he can look like a legit top6 player and the next one not. From my point of view it's his urgency. His first game against Philly he had a good urgency. Then he has had games with no urgency where he looked "slow". Sometimes he overthinks or forces the plays with a high risk instead of keeping them just simple with a low risk.

Boy, it's funny what people see -- not saying you are wrong, just that different people see different things.

For me Cehlarik is certainly not fast but his speed to me is absolutely not an issue. He's often in the right place for the back check, is a puck winning hound, and makes some sweet passes. Not only do I see him as a top 9, but I see him as a lock for Krejci on the 2nd line.
