Dreger saying DOPS didn't make a big deal out of it because of no aggressive push backwards.:laugh::laugh:

Anyone who's slipped on an icy walkway or walking down stairs in socks knows that the "aggressive push" is really just the icing on the cake. If I kick your feet out from under you, I can get the pendulum going in the right direction by simply using my index finger to nudge your shoulder backwards.

I'm not saying Pesce is Hannibal Lector. He is not. But when it's this obvious and blatant you have to do something. Even if it was just a moment of not thinking. $5K for these guys is not something.

that has no place whatsoever in hockey, none, it's dangerous not to mention cowardly

it's blatant and intentional on Pesce's part, this is where the DoPS can make themselves heard and apply the just and deserved punishment but they didn't and instead chose to kick up some chicken defecation and take the easy way out by applying a fine of 5k on a guy making 4m per, he wouldn't even notice it gone, 2 or 3 games and he'd never do it again and anybody else would think twice before they did something like that. The NHL unfortunately couldn't care less about player safety, maybe they do but they're too afraid of the union to do the right thing, which would've been to sit Pesce down, not ask him for what amounts to be nothing more than beer money to him.

I love physical hockey, I like the emotion it can bring out in the players and the game, but I cannot tolerate the dirty stuff that has no business anywhere in the rink. If you are that annoyed that you want to hurt the guy, either set him up for a big open ice hit or drop the gloves and knock his teeth out.

On TSN last night Dreger said the reason the DoPS didn’t call it a ‘slew foot’ and give a more severe punishment is because Pesce didn’t ‘aggressively’ throw Faabri’s upper body downward. Like... he definitely used his arm to push him back to cause him to fall backwards in conjunction with the skate trip.... but it wasn’t done so ‘aggressively’ so just a fine and nothing further. What a bunch of idiots.

As a Canes fan I really hope the org and/or Pesce address this and do at least some of the following...

- Acknowledge the incident and the careless and reckless nature of it
- Apologize to Fabbri publicly or privately
- Increase the amount fined
- Pesce sits for a game

Sigh...what's your view on Ovechkin?

Should he apologize for nut shots and get "time off" and/or going back a couple of years for picking on an 18 year old Svechnikov?

For the nuts shot? Yes.

For punching Svech in the face when Svech wanted to fight? No.

Slew footing is a dirty dangerous play that could end someone's career. Injuring someone on a hockey play is one thing. Intentionally slew-footing or spearing someone in the nuts is another. That's not part of hockey and shouldn't be in the game.

$5,000 is peanuts to these players and does nothing to deter them from continuing to do it. Own up to it. Admit it was shitty and take responsibility for being shitty. Don't be shitty in the future.

Yeah I'm sure you have plenty of other examples of him to prove this.

This was literally probably the first dirty play of his professional career but go on, can't wait to see your evidence to the contrary.

This may be a first you're probably right, let's say he introduced himself to the NHL douche list quite well with this move.

One thing worth remembering is that the $5,000 also classifies them as a “Past offender” should anything happen in the future.

It's clear he should have at least gotten a game suspension, and I'ms someone who prefers physical hockey. If Fabbri hadn't rolled to his side he might have gone to the hospital. Too bad the Wings don't have anyone who would settle accounts with Pesce.

If the DoPS won't address things like this, the players will have to. As far as I'm concerned, if Pesci gets his head taken off from a flying elbow next game, it's all good. Slewfoots are disgusting trash that have no place in hockey. Blatant attempt to injure. Keep your head up...

I would like to see Fabbri not-aggressively board Pesce into the end boards next time these teams play.

It’s kind of crazy how we’ve made the complete cultural circuit from “fighting keeps players from settling scores via cheap shot” to “let’s hope they settle scores with a cheap shot rather than confront each other”.

It’s not like Pesce is some heavyweight. His only career fight was a slapfest with Scheifele. Pretty obvious how this gets settled if the Wings want it.

I honestly didn't see it in real time so I can't comment on that. A lot of us Canes fans figured there must have been something that Fabbri did to get under Pesce's skin like that because in his entire NHL career I don't think any of us can recall him doing something even remotely dirty like this.

If that's the case, then sure, Fabbri needs to be disciplined for crossing the line. However, it still doesn't excuse Pesce for retaliating in that manner. There's never a justification for intentionally slew-footing someone. Drop the gloves and punch the guy in the face if you want. At least that's part of hockey.

EDIT: Oh see what you're saying. You'd like Fabbri to take a run a Pesce. Sounds great. Good way of dealing with things for sure.

Slewfoots are the exception to the rule, IMO. You pull that shit, all bets are off.
