I know a lot of us make our own boards, some larger some smaller. I always enjoy seeing what other people think, despite how I post at times in disagreement. In any event, here is a thread where we can post our thoughts.

Rank as many as you like, I would at least encourage people to shoot for a first round. In a lot of ways it can make draft night fairly interesting when you have something in advance.

With Covid-19 I have actually made it to a top 100. I am sure there are a few names missing or spectacularly lower than you think they should be. But here is mine, I hope we can all participate and have some fun.

I hope LA and Ottawa have the same board as you.

Despite his tumble this year, it is important to note Lucas Raymond entered the year as the #2 prospect in most rankings ahead of Byfield. He has been utterly dominant in his own peer group when there. His underlying numbers while playing little in the SHL were actually quite good, one of the very best on his team which is quite good in the 4th best league in the world in my opinion. I think of all the players in the draft a delay into next season might help Raymond go right back up the board. If he comes out in August and September and is shredding the SHL because Frolunda is actually playing him decent minutes and special teams I wouldn't be surprised to see him crack that top 3 at all.

I have him in a virtual dead-heat with Stutzle. That Stutzle might be able to be a center was my tiebreaker. But I think they are the same class of talent. I know others do not, but Raymond is a very gifted player in my opinion. He is better on the defensive side of things too, so he isn't just a pure offensive guy. One of the best in this class on the forecheck and hounding the puck. He is always processing the game when you watch him, solving problems offensively and defensively. Smart as hell in my viewings.

I'm only going to do a top 10ish, knowing Detroit was guaranteed to pick high I only really focused on watching top 10 type guys. I have guys I would like them to target in the second but dont think I had enough views of guys to make a full list. I didnt put time into watching guys ranked 15ish really this year.

Lafreniere
Byfield
Stutzle
Drysdale
Perfetti
Raymond
Rossi
Holtz
Sanderson
Askarov
Quinn
Holloway

I think Holloway is probably too high but I didnt watch him really this year. Based on watching him last year and at the u18s as an underage guy he really jumped out to me. I think I only watched one Wisco game this year, but he seemed buried in a good line up when I saw him and with more ice time I think maybe those skills pop back out that I saw. Same number of goals as Brady Tkachuk in his draft year. I'm not going out on a limb for this guy but i think he has more than hes shown this year

No point in a long, long list for me.
There's very little separating a 27 from a 28 for me, let alone a 58.

So here are the players I want, in order.

  1. Byfield
  2. Lafreniere
  3. Sanderson
  4. Stutzle
  5. Perfetti
  6. Askarov
  7. Drysdale
  8. Raymond
  9. Jarvis
  10. Raymond
  11. Holtz
  12. Rossi
  13. Quinn
  14. Lapierre
  15. Amirov

That is my top 5 and since we got screwed out of the top 3 hopefully we take either Drysdale or Rossi.

As much as ranking Rossi down at 14 sounded overly bold on surface in other threads, when you look at the list of names, it's not like there isn't justification for those players where they are. And honestly, you could make a case for even more people to be ranked higher. Like Guhle and Quinn have a lot of supporters and seeing Quinn in the back end of the top 10, and Guhle in the back end of the top 15 like you can see from some outlets...you could conceivably have Rossi outside of the top 15.

Some people won't rank Askarov, some people remove Lapierre because of health concerns, some people remove Lundell due to perceived upside concerns. But having them in the fold. Having Zary and Jarvis just outside of the top 10 which is fairly normal. Someone has to fall, and it absolutely makes sense how you personally can have Rossi down the list.

****edit: moved Wallinder up & Guhle down (post-draft).
*****edit: in hindsight, I dropped Raymond too far (ranked fourth a month before this list, but I dropped him to twelfth after reading about some "character concerns"). My Lundell ranking looks pretty bad in hindsight too. I'm happy with where I had Mercer, Jarvis, Reichel, and Sanderson though.

Pretty much mirrors my top 5 at this point. I really want Stutzle to fall to four, but I will still be happy with either Sanderson or Rossi.

What's a computer?
spend a lot of time research but even still SUPER hard to come up with an intelligent list that i am confident about.

AS for 1st pick:
1) Laf
2) By
3/4)Rossi or Stutzle
5/6) Raymond or Drysdale

in process of researching 2nd round tier players.

Question: I see Ryan O'Rourke as ~32 on some lists, but outside the top 50-60 on others. I know tiers get closer once you're outside the top 10-15, but can anybody speak to why this player seems a bit polarizing (and maybe why Detroit should or shouldn't consider him with their pick at 32)?

Some people like upside, some people like certainty.

To me, he's probably the exact description of Jared McIsaac that was being sold at the draft in 2018. I actually think McIsaac has a little more offense than he was credited for, but not a ton. But O'Rourke is what McIsaac was billed to be. He plays a physical, defensive game more than anything. Skating isn't special. Limited offensive upside. Not really a big, imposing defender, but has a little bit of a mean streak in his game.

I feel comfortable in projecting him as an NHLer, but he embodies the concept of a safe floor, low ceiling type of player. He will be a defensive defenseman, likely bottom pairing but can fill in up the roster if needed. He's a late first rounder for the team that just wants to hit a single. For the Wings, I wouldn't be mad at 32, but I think the odds would suggest that there will be someone I'd rather have over him, and hope that he lingers around a little bit into the mid and late second, even though he likely will be gone.

Jeez, has there been a more confusing time to pick at #4? Stevie has so many legitimate options...
These are my tiers also so thanks for saving me the time
