I liked it. First challenging battle all f***ing game.

Yeah, that's definitely fair. Partially I am annoyed because I basically was trying to slow EXP in the palace, thinking I was overpowered. I don't think this version is very well balanced overall (P5R, not the palace specifically). Some of it is probably due to having played before, but it also seems like they really turned up the amount of SP items you can get. The only issue I've had is inside of this boss fight. I think I have a strategy to get through the final big wave of robots.

Heh, should probably backpedal a bit. Was able to beat him on the third go around with a bit better planning. Had to orchestrate the whole team for different phases of the fight and fix Joker's persona spread just a bit. I had decent coverage but was missing one or two things that I needed for some key parts to the fight.

I do appreciate the challenge, but this part was definitely my least favorite part of the game in several respects. Without saying too much for risk of spoilers for any casual readers, I'm not really sure how this part could have been done too much better, in all fairness.

I itemized one of the demos that gives me another Psio, and put it on Makoto (or whatever her name is), so with her, MC, and Hara I was able to get four baton passes with Ryuji using a psy item to also hit the weakness.

The executive isn't bad at all as long as you're not rakunda'd when the Big Bang Order hits. So getting through the final four bots was the thing that took me awhile. I actually liked the fight - p5R is *very* easy so far.

I basically did the same thing, although I think I had items for Psio on both Makoto and Ryuji. I agree that it's extremely easy – if you know the weaknesses and also use buff/debuff correctly, even on hard mode it's very straightforward.

Another skill I find is OP is whatever the spell is for forget. The executive was a joke because you can just nullify the Big Bang Order with that. I had the same problem with the final 4 bots. My strategy was 3/4 baton passes, ending on Haru to ideally do both Mapsio and then Triple Down. It was enough of a challenge to require some inventiveness, which outside of the immediate annoyance of the fight, was more rewarding.

I'm glad that there was some new story content immediately after the palace because the ease of things and the weak spot in the game was starting to drag for me... but I've also been playing solely this since it came out, and mostly still addicted as ever, largely because I'm trying to dial in a lot of the elements that I mostly ignored in P5 vanilla.

they definitely tuned up the SP items, I was able to do every palace in one go and it never got into the danger zone of even being close to out of items just by remembering to stock up on the vending machines and getting adhesives from the doctor. That okumura fight I can appreciate that it was the 'hardest' other then the OG last boss (trying not to spoil), but it was hard because it was stupidly frustrating IMO. The time limit and fight conditions were just annoying to me, took me like 2 hours to beat

Yeah, when I initially faced him, I was trying to polish it off so that I could meet a friend for a video call, and so the excessive amount of turns and time dragging was especially annoying.

I finally just got the darts minigame unlocked on 10/7. Not sure if I missed cues beforehand, but it's a fun game and I'm sure it will make the baton passes even more overpowered.

It does.

Probably my biggest issue with P5R - game was already fairly easy, and it gave you about a million ways for it to be even easier, from the new confidant abilities, more time to spend building your Slinks/personal stats/more money/etc. I'm about to start the Casino and outside of parts of the first castle and the Onumura fight, I don't think I've broken a sweat.

Like it doesn't have to be Nocturne difficult, but damn.

Thoughts from those who’ve played Royal on how much of an upgrade it is? I’ve heard they improved Akechi’s story a ton so that’s pretty huge for me, as he was the weak point of P5 to me.

They did improve it, you def get more of him. Quality of life jumps and generally a more fun experience, some story improvements plus story tacked on at the end.. at 60 I think it is a bit much but considering it was years since I loaded up P5, I found it a good time and fairly easy because those time pinches are gone and new additions help enough. It's a nicer version of P5, nothing radical but very noticeable

Yeah I think that's a great summary. I really wish they hadn't made it quite so easy – it seems really noticeable from pretty early on in the game, and some of the improvements that they made really make things pretty broken. I am playing on Hard and I've only died a handful of times.

That said, the improvements are thorough and I think overall, they are such that I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it at full price both to anyone who played P5 vanilla and liked it, or to anyone who wants to play for the first time. Akechi's story is delivered much better, and I like the new content, including how they integrated it.

I guess with the pricing, it's a matter of how soon someone wants to play it. Longer-term fans of the series might be able to correct me, but I assume it will start to see a bit of a sale price within the next 3 or 4 months. I think it's already starting to go for $50. I paid $60 and do not regret it, and while I only got back into gaming a little bit ago, maybe it's worth noting that I basically avoid paying full price for any games usually.

They've added a ton of content, and it's made an amazing game even better.

I do agree with the difficulty thing, though. While a video game doesn't need to be challenging to be fun, at some points it feels a little too breezy with all the powers (at least so far, I haven't anywhere near beaten it yet). There are a couple fights that are incredible difficulty spikes, though.

I adored P5 but I have no problem waiting for big sales before picking up Royal. I'll get to it someday.

I still want to try Catherine as well, been waiting for more price drops there since I'm still working through a backlog.

I finished it tonight. Without getting into anything too specific, I'll say that I think the overall arc of the narrative is delivered in a more satisfying manner in P5R. The new additions really compliment things and I think it's just a much more complete-feeling experience.

I'll probably go for the platinum even though I've never really bothered too much with trophies, in part because it will be pretty easy. Again, don't want to say too much because of spoilers, but even though the game is too easy for my tastes, I did find the final palace boss fight to be more rewarding (still somewhat easy, but a step up from a lot of the game). And the thematic and coalescence of the plot is where the new material really shines, IMO.

As was foretold.

Seems to have dual audio as well. Will have to check out the Japanese track when I play it again.

Sorry for using the thread for amateur hour questions, but from what I can gather, you basically can't play P4G on a Mac? I don't play any games on my desktop, but I have a reasonably decent iMac, and it seems like some Steam games can work with a Mac OSX, but not most of them, including P4G?

I'm seeing some quasi-emulator looking programs that come up, but am I right in assuming that if you have Mac OSX, this game remains off limits? If so, guess I'm holding out hope that they'll also release it on Ps4.

Unless you install bootcamp or maybe through wine, I don't think you will have much luck. It's rare enough that console games get ported to PC, almost never to mac
