The doghouse
Your response led me to believe it was partially torn and they knew.

Waiting for it to pop fully when you have 4 months off is confusing.

It was clearly not "will it need surgery" rather "when will it need surgery".

No it was not clearly that. I think that’s where the confusion is coming from

Insurance on these contracts don't cover 100% but he goes on LTIR, and the team gets a off set for that contract. If he had surgery at the end of last year for a suspect knee, he may have been able to have come back in November and it is not known what his play could be. So they probably thought if he could play with it, that is the hope. Now he may not recover the physical level needed to play. LTIR and Aflack cash is not the worst situation.

This is very unfortunate, Ducks have my sympathies for sure.
Given they have a roster spot to fill, odds they take Ryan back for Silfverberg +?
You want Ritchie and noesen with that? …. I feel like ott would have to pay to get us to take ryan.

Id talk Silf+ if the player you were talking about was duechene/stone

Ducks still have $6mil in cap space. I don't think Perry will need to go on LTIR since I don't think the Ducks will be scrambling spend $6mil++ on a replacement anytime soon.

They can easily fit Goldobin's salary.. ;)

Why is that?

Always sucks when a good player goes down long term, even if it is a rival.
Hes not a good player any more... hes an anchor majority of the game and occasionally ends up on the score sheet mostly due to the fact he plays with 2 really good players most of the time.

Also means we will get a better look at someone like Terry or Comtois

so he was battling these injuries and decided to see how the season would progress? would have made more sense to go under the knife 2 months ago
