Sigh. Hansen and his group needs to move on. No offense to him and his group but this is somewhat turning into an obsession. City isn't going to waste any more time and money on a dead project. Hansen screwed up big time since the moment Steve Balmer left the group.

The fact is they are still beating the drum on a false narrative that the NBA wants nothing to do with Seattle center arena, Tim Leiweke and a fellow NBA owner David Bonderman.

Btw i have no doubt that it was the sodo group that told the ESPN guy that Seattle has to built a 2nd arena in order to get the NBA team and has been again pushing that false Narrative.

Also last i recall there are could possible be legal issues as to why the city just can't give up a street vacation even conditionally. Now if we are talking about an arena built on spec with out any teams, that would be a different situation but sodo arena still requires a team before it gets built. Thus there is uncertainty that the arena will ever get built (zero chance hansen ever gets the NBA) thus sodo arena will never happen.

it would better if Hansen went away all together even if the NBA decides to expand he has shown he has can not work the political game .He would be a terrible person to make the city's case for the league if they opened up expansion bidding

We already have that group that is better strength group with actually $$$ and has an insider to the NBA. Then there is the Leiweke brothers (Tim with OVG and Tod CEO/president of NHL Seattle) that are part of the whole organization.

Hansen has been pushing a false narrative that is only been mentioned by 1 person that ESPN guy that Key arena rebuild may never work for the NBA and may require a 2nd 100% privately funded arena. Hansen's group was a source for that false narrative imo. Hansen is basically saying NBA will never be second renter to SCA when its already been set up from the start that the NBA group will control 1/3 of all revenue. Of course that NBA group is basically the NHL group + who ever else wants to join.

NBA is not going to be happy that someone is putting words into their mouths on weather SCA is acceptable to them or not. Remember SCA MOU has a requirement that the NBA must sign off on it before construction even started.

City of Seattle will again say no to hansen and the NBA if they ever expand or relocate via sale then move David Bonderman will be the majority owner of the NBA team not Sodo group.

As Tim Leiweke always been saying you ever get ahead the league. Hansen screwed up. He should have gotten the NHL group the $$$ guy to own the NHL team and build the arena then patiently wait. He did not do that and now he is basically gonna demand the NBA give him team before he builds an arena. It doesn't work like that especially when arena already exists in Seattle by the time the NBA does give Seattle its team back.

Listen to the Softy & Dick Interviews Episode - Chris Hansen with the latest on the continued attempt to bring professional basketball back to the city of Seattle on iHeartRadio | iHeartRadio

Hansen was on KJR soft eariler today.

The two things that i took out to me was,

1) he still seems to think there is huge economic issue with SCA even though the group that wants to bring the NBA team to SCA is the same group that owns the NHL team. 2) He think Sodo arena can survive with a 3.8b dollar investment. (yes he thinks the team will now cost 3 billion dollars) with NBA only and minimal concerts. No idea why he thinks that's financially viable. That is a huge red flag right there for both SCC and the NBA. Huge investment with no way the team will ever turn a profit.

Chris Hansen, Wally Walker clear up what SODO arena project's role is in Seattle NBA effort
his narrative that there are a lot of viable two arena markets (minus LA NY) is false on so many levels one major market with 2 arenas is minnesota and the Xcel Energy Center is universally considered better than the target center in every single way and in Michigan the pistons left an arena they owned because the palace was not viable

Minnesota case is actually in 2 different cities not one. Another thing that is false that they said the only reason why SCC said no to the street vacation was the 200m in public financing. None of the 5 council folks that said no brought up the 200m in public financing as their reason. Basically nothing has changed from back then to now. And the idea that the NBA is treading away from shared arena's is also bogus. They have no idea what they are talking about.

Sodo arena is Dead. Will never happen. The Sodo arena group still think the NBA will go with them instead of at SCA with a fellow NBA minority owner of the boston Celtics as majority owner.
No one in the city even trust's him outside of the kjr staff the city council sees him as a Californian who came into the city and tried to tell them how to run things.

Hansen thinks the NBA wants to be in its own building that has a total investment cost of 3.5 to 4 billion dollars where the only revenue is NBA and somewhere between barely any concerts to like 15. He's insane to think any billionaire wants to throw that kind of money to make little money in return into that project.
