Speaking only of skating, early on you get a glimpse of Paul Coffey skating, and Mike Gartner probably was also in the game, so not everyone in that era skated like Callandar and Robby Brown.
I tend to stay away from those discussions because yes point totals can be deceptive, but more importantly, you can never convince the other person how patently wrong they are. I loved watching Mario, Gretzky, and others, but I also loved watching Sid, McDavid, Geno, Mackinnon, etc and even Ovie when he’s not running someone. Life’s too short to argue extensively about who was “better”.
