Simple,
Which forward group do you take right now if you had to win it all THIS year?

This is also assuming each team will be meeting each other at least once during the playoffs and will be going head-to-head.

Pens top 12:
Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Hagelin-Malkin-Kessel
Simon-Brassard-Hornqvist
Sprong-Cullen-Sheahan

Leafs Top 12 (including Nylander):
Kapenen-Matthews-Nylander
Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Marleau-Kadri-Brown
Leivo-Gauthier-Lindholm

Caps Top 12 (including Wilson):
Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Wilson
Vrana-Backstrom-Oshie
Burkovsky-Eller-Connolly
Walker-Dowd-Smith-Pelly

I’ll take the ones who two of the last three Cups.
I went Caps as theres is more balanced with the history of success too. Tho is close with the Pens cause you know if they can turn it around they can be right there with the Caps too

Pens or caps. Went win Pens as they’ve beaten the caps 2/3 times.

Fair point. I had a tough time picking between the Caps and the Pens.
Longer term (ie three years or so) you have to like that Leafs group given the age gap. I still think Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin & co will be elite for a while though.

Overall I’d probably say Pens by a hair over Leafs

Leafs 3rd place since we are looking at this year.

Wilson is suspended not unsigned. Of course he'd be included on the roster.

1st line: Caps>Leafs>Pens
2nd line: Pens>Leafs>Caps
3rd line: Leafs>Pens>Caps
4th line: Pens>Caps>Leafs (they're all pretty new, tough to rank)

Caps fan voting for the Pens, even the Leafs are above us. If we still had Beagle I'd consider us but right now our 4th line is mediocre or worse (and you forgot to put stephenson on it).

For winning it all? Gotta go Pens then Caps then Leafs. Pens/Caps is a tossup honestly - caps are the defending champs but as they'll find out it's much harder to repeat than it is to win the first time.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Leafs put up the most goals in the regular season though. They could very well be the best of the three this year but due to their inexperience I would not pick them if the purpose is winning the cup.

If Beagle is the difference maker from 1rst to third, then the range is slim.

oh it is very slim, but being able to role four lines is huge and you saw what they did in the playoffs, especially Pelly in the finals.

Maybe Doyd or Boyd make good 4th line centers but as of now I think they are both 13th forwards/AHLers. Meanwhile Beagle is a 3/4C who a faceoff specialist, which we miss already.

It's Pittsburgh

Crosby/Malkin are insane. They have another gear. They don't hit it all the time - nor even every playoff - but they have consistently hit it in the playoffs and when they do they are almost impossible to stop.

Ovechkin isn't even at the same level (not in 2018 and he's a winger vs C) i don't think - and even if he was it's 1 vs 2.

Until Matthews or Tavares can show they can do the same in the playoffs you absolutely take Pitt. There's not a player in the world I take before Crosby in the playoffs - and Malkin may be #2.

caps >> at LW just because of OV?

Marleau had 27g, Hyman 40pts, Kapanen is ppg this year. caps have no depth after OV. vrana and burakovsky? meh
