Today is a day that there is a hockey game in Washington DC.
It is a hockey game between the Penguins, who reside in Pittsburgh, PA versus the Capitals, which come from the most powerful area in the world.
Pittsburgh comes in after losing in embarrassing fashion to the Senators. The same Senators that are such a awful franchise that they had to brainwash and propaganda their fanbase into thinking Erik Karlsson was in the same tier as Alexander Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, and Alex Chiason for nearly a half a decade. This team beat the Penguins 6-3 last night. Penguins have lost like three in a row now. Guess third time wasn't a charm for them last night.
The Capitals come in still missing half of their top 6, which sucks. However, as I just said the Ottawa Senators scored 6 goals vs the Penguins last night and this is the second of an away back to back, so today has the potential of even a Carl Hagelin hat trick.
Sometimes I wonder if John Cena secretly really hates kids because he has the most Make A Wish foundation appearances than anyone in history. However, he wouldn't get married b/c he refused to have kids. So you have to wonder if maybe he just really, really hates kids so much he enjoys seeing kids about to die. Anyways, back to pregame.
The Capitals are led by Alex Ovechkin who just weeks ago had the fanbase and others around the NHL wondering if he was going to be injured (more greying hairs) and miss some time. However, he instead has just dominated, made MANY opposing child fans cry, and is putting up MVP type numbers. He is joined by Evgeni Kuznetsov, who after coming off rumored trade talks this offseason is playing like he's on cocaine again.
The Penguins are led by Rodriguez who has 11 points, but you could argue that Jarry has been the Pens best player this season. In 5 games the young goalie has a fantastic .929 save percentage and 2.23 GAA. Whatever though. Let's get back to the main point that Rodriguez is Penguins leading scorer (no wonder they're near the bottom of the division).
Word is Sidney Crosby could return just in time to congratulate Ovechkin on becoming sole 4th in goals in NHL history. Since Ovechkin and Crosby entered the league Ovechkin currently leads Crosby in career goals, points, and not being a whiny little b*znitch. However, Crosby is still really good and he is a player I'm saying Caps should pay attention to and watch out for.
Some good news regarding the Caps is they are not playing an afternoon game on a Sunday which is super weird, but pretty awesome for watching football. Plus I think the Capitals aren't as good when they play on Sunday afternoons (not sure if this stat is true - but it seems like it's true and feels that way - so I'm sticking with it). Plus, even if it's wrong this is like a media pregame post and media doesn't need to be factual any more as we know.
Thinks to look out for:
- SPECIAL TEAMS:
* Capitals are 19th and Pens last on Power Play. This game may come down to even strength play with horrible special teams play.
- IT'S CAPS VS PENS:
* Some of the most rememberable games in the last decade are Capitals VS Penguins. It's always an exciting rivalry when these two meet.
- FLYING OBJECTS:
* Look out for flying objects. They are rare but have been known to be fatal and even cause serious injury.
The time of the game says 7:00 pm, but we all know It's a few minutes later. If you're rushing home, in a hurry for something, or something comes up (emergency poop), and it's right at 7:00, don't worry, you have time still. Slow down driving, slow down, or wipe properly.
Other notes:
Penguins: 5-4-4 (14 points) are currently in 7th place in the division.
Capitals: 8-2-4 (20 points) are currently in 2nd place in the division (which is better than 7th).
Game lines are o/u 6 goals and Washington -170
