There will be a press conference Wedenesday morning at 10 in Quebec City about a huge project of bringing back a NHL team in town.

According to rumors, the group of investors - among whom Guy laliberté, the owner of Cirque du Soleil - would build a new complex, including a Casino and a theatre for a Cirque's permanent show.

That group would like to attrack the Pittsburg Penguins which still seem to have problems getting a new arena in Pittsburg.

Can you just imagine Crosby and Malkin in a "Nordiques" uniform ? And Patrick Roy as a co-owner/DG/ or coach ?

If they can get +12,000 fans for a Junior team, there is no doubt, they can fill a 18,000-19,000 arena for a NHL team of their own . Especially with a Crosby in the line up !

the penguins situation is still legally tied to the isle of capri's pittsburgh slot license proposal, no matter who owns the team.

despite what some would like to think, especially in winnipeg and quebec, the organization hasn't exactly packed it's figurative bags just yet.

As much as I would love to see this come true (hell I hope it does), Crosby and Malkin are still going to service the league far better if they are in a large market like Houston or wherever.

Quebec and Hartford never should have lost their franchises. Bring back the Adams Division :yo:

:biglaugh: :biglaugh: ...This is hysterical. I can see putting a team in Quebec but DEFINETELY NOT IN HARTFORD. Hartford sucks as a city and so do its fans. I know because I was one. The city is stuck with losers that live in the past and dont welcome change.

No the NHL will not return to Hartford.

That would no doubt be an amazing site... But would be heartbreaking for Pens fans

Crosby is supposed to be the "Next One." He's supposed to attract Americans to the NHL, something like if Gretzky had played in the US during his prime, instead of Edmonton. Having him in Quebec would do no good.

I would love to see both Quebec City and Winnipeg get a team, but NOT by moving another team. Expansion is the only way.

Losing a team sucks and Pittsburgh fans don't deserve to loose a team.

same here, I'd rather see a team stay in Pitt, but at the same time I really would't be thrilled to see more expansion...

You do realize Pittsburgh is a big hockey market in the U.S., the numbers prove it.

What's hockey been like in Houston TEXAS the past 100 years?

No, if the Habs want an NHL franchise pick another team, no way in hell should the Penguins leave. They have a strong history in the NHL (two stanley cups don't make it a weak history).

Move the Panthers to Quebec or something.

Gretzky did bring American fans to the NHL, because of Gretzky being traded to LA we saw the birth of the Sharks & Ducks in California (have to be kidding yourself if people don't think those two teams are there because of Gretzky).

The conference press thing is true, but forget it you old Quebec Nordiques fans, this is not gonna happen. You lost your team once, ain't gonna bring a new one in town. Anwyway the mayoress Boucher said it time and time again, Quebec is not gonna be involved in any process to bring back a NHL team.

I really doubt a group of business man can sucessfuly own a NHL team in Quebec. The Nordiques failed, the Expos in Montreal did too. I don't see a lonely owner who could bring enough money to the table. Anyway, that doesn't bother me, I'm sure the NHL won't send a team in Quebec. They are not half good fans as they say they are.
