Replacing Nielsen with Byfield is one of my main goals next June...
Dekeyser may be a little overpaid, but after a bad year was back to being decent in the second half of the season. Part of his problem is that he's not exceptional at anything. Pretty good skater, ok positionally, decent size, ok passer, ok poke-checker, not physical but pretty disciplined etc etc. In comparson, Nemeth is better at what he's good at, but is a lot worse than DDK in other areas. DDK is good 4/5 man when he's playing ok. Sadly he has to too often be a 1/2/3 for us.
having a bad season?
Good one for his standards.
Nemeth looks okay out there. I can live with him being our #6 dman. The problem is we have no depth on D and we have to deploy him as a second pairing. He's big, tough and decent enough defensively. He's basically a little bit better Ericsson without the massive contract.
Being a plus player on a team that's -31 in goal differential in 18 games is actually pretty good by any standard. He's had a few gaffs but overall pretty steady. He shoots more than I expected, which is good.
Hella impressive engine on the guy, 26 mins against Boston were clocked I think.
To be a Plus on this defense is remarkable... Dude has been really good
He's been solid, good fancy stats too (53.17 CF%, 5th best on the team, 52.57 xgf%, 8th best on the team, 7th when you don't add Smith, who's only played 3 games). Playing a lot of tough minutes too since Dekeyser's injury. Very happy with the signing.
Him and Hronek have been a solid pairing, and it was very frustrating to see Blashill go back to Nemeth-Green tonight.
24 minutes to lead the team against Vegas. Also +1 today. Cholo, Bowey, and Hronek on the ice for the 2 goals. Youngsters are still getting burned.
Just hope DeKeyser to come back, so it really doesn't matter which one plays with Hronek.
DeKeyser - Hronek/Green
Nemeth - Hronek/Green
Cholowski - McIlrath
Yzerman should ask from Winnipeg, if they would give something for Bowey.
