People often forget that he had a 96 point season in the dead puck era. Larry Robinson once said that Elias was the smartest hockey player he'd ever coached or played with when he coached for the Devils; high praise indeed.

Congrats Patrik!

I wish that his 1000th point was his 400th goal. Congrats to Patrik Elias though, and he should be a lock to be the first forward to have his number retired by New Jersey.

I think the fact that he got his 1000th point off a secondary assist is actually fitting considering Patty was always about THE TEAM and not himself. (well....99% of the time anyway. lol )

Such an underrated player. One of 2 Devils players I cant force myself to hate (the other being Parise).

Elias was HARDLY "under the radar" when on the A-line. He, and that line, were legit studs for 2-2.5seasons.

Problem is half the people reading this thread need to google "The A-Line."

Now this old fart's gonna go to bed.

Wow, I didn't realized he was close to 1000pts.

I have been a Habs fan since mid 90's. So I've seen plenty of my share of Devils game thru the years. He was the player I feared the most against my team in the whole league for approx half a decade. He was just lights out against the Habs.

Too bad he couldn't play the entire 2005-2006 season, he was on a mission.

He is ugly.

Somewhat comparable to Daniel Alfredsson. Both great two-way forwards who score a lot but not all that recognized due to markets.

Well, she doesn't complain at all.

Man, that's lame. Had I been in that situation (399g, 600a), I would have shot the damn puck all night. I'm not OCD in any way, but there's some cases where you just want to do it the right way.

This isn't going to be another "How could he score 624 goals! I mean 625 is fine but 624 is shameful" thread is it?

I don't remember the exact numbers but that Selanne thread made me laugh so hard.

Is this a recent pic of him? Can't believe how slight his frame/body looks. He can't be over 165 in that pic.

Anyway, that doesn't matter so much. Congrats to Elias. Always a very under-rated player, and I always liked him quite a bit. He used to have such a killer wrist shot (maybe still does; I haven't seen him play in a while).

Was also hoping for the 400/600 split.
Still, 1,000 points is a huge accomplishment. Very happy for him. :)

Yes, you have OCD because you'd like to see a clean 400/600 split.
You also have anxiety because you're afraid of spiders.
You suffer from insomnia because you can't sleep before midnight.
You suffer from a severe depression because you feel sad from time to time.
Oh, and you clearly are a drug addict if you drink more than 2 beers per week.

I know (hope) that you're not serious, but still. Please.

To stay somewhat on topic

Congrats. One of the most overlooked players out there.

Elias is never getting moved, especially with years remaining on his deal after this one. I will turn the knife a bit more though :p::laugh:. The main reason the Wings signed Alfie is because they struck out on Elias. Patty was down to NJ-DET and chose to stay home...for the 3rd time as a UFA. He's a lifer.

It was from tonight you can see the 1000pt stick and puck taped up. His playing weight usually is between 185-195

:)

This was only his second game back from being out with the mumps so he may have loss a few pounds there.

Elias has been a true two way star his whole career. Between the Devils defensive style and the fact that many years he was counted on to take two guys like a Clarkson and an aging Rolston/Sykora and turn them into a formidable second line, he sacrificed a lot of personal #'s for the good of the team. Even as of a few years ago, people would talk about Kovy and Parise as the Devils stars while Elias quietly was top 10 in scoring in the league on the "2nd line". Hopefully he eventually still gets recognized in the hall of fame because he truly is one of the great forwards, especially back in his prime. How many guys had their best years (and signed ridiculous contracts) playing on a line with Elias? Sykora, Arnott, Gionta, Clarkson & Gomez off the top of my head.
