Can't imagine he was effective for all that time. Probably get better quality minutes if he played less overall.

Kane looked pretty good all night IMO. Chicago has no depth anymore they look like Pens did 2010-2014

Ovi played 29:24 in a non OT regular season game against Tampa in 2007

http://www.espn.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=271116020

Also played 28:47(1 second shy of Kane here) in a playoff game that didn't go to OT the following season

Thanks

Pens 2010-12 (i.e., before the Staal for Sutter trade) were ridiculously deep.

Yes they were deep in C, but their wingers were pretty bad and very slow defense. 2013 they had great team but Bylsma completely ruined that team

Wow that is a lot of icetime for a forward. Kovalchuk had hige icetime. Bure in Florida averaged 24 mins a game. But Kane getting this much ice time is kinda crazy.

Still D get 28-30 mins often. Maybe forwards coukd do that as well? Idk?

Impressive nonetheless.

Forwards and defensemen play a different game. Forwards tend to use more energy a shift.

Now forwards can do this once in a while but for an extended period of games they will be gassed

Karlsson and Suter after a couple months of playing 30+ minutes are gassed.

Like they are still be far the best defensemen. But Suter and Karlsson will just go through the motions. Keith and letang as examples do it in the playoffs but doing that a regular season and then playoffs wears on a player.

Kovalchuk was something alright. I forget which year but his team scored more goals on the penalty kill then got scored on while he was on the ice.
He better make the HOF

Edit: 1 or 2 games long sprinkled in isn't bad. But consistently ends forwards for tldr

In 2011-12 and 2013 he was averaging the most time of anyone on the team at nearly 24:26 and 24:44 minutes. ****ing insane icetime for a forward. He was a workhorse. He was the only forward in the top 60 for 2013 and he was at 17th and in 11-12 he was the only forward in the top 49 at 18th

2011-12. He was something else with the Devils. Top 5 offensive forward, great defensively, would play all 2 minutes on the PP and one of the best PKers in the league

No depth at all.. Outside of Kane, Toews and an aging Hossa there isn't much there. They can only run like 2 lines..

This could have been discussed in the GDT and the question about the record has been answered. It's not a topic worth a stand-alone thread.
