Total points since McDavid entered
Kane 358
McDavid 339

PPG since McDavid entered
McDavid 1.24
Kane 1.17

Kane has one less Lindsay and one less Art Ross in that time. Close but yeah I guess McDavid has been better.

Kucherov aswell over the past 3 seasons

Kane’s a weird case to dissect for me. Obviously, Ovechkin and Crosby are the best of the post lockout era. I’ve always held Malkin in high regard and when healthy and the Pens relied on him whenever Crosby was out or slumping, he at times could be seen as the best player in the world.

Kane was best in the world for perhaps a season and of course he is playing fantastic hockey right now, in addition to having an upper tier career.

Now this is an opinion I’ve never shared, but for many years Toews was considered better than Kane.

So I don’t know. If he can sweep the awards this season and will a bad Blackhawks team into the playoffs, it would significantly add to his legacy and his already impressive career and trophy cabinet would look even more so.

I’d still have trouble placing him above Malkin but I can see the case since Malkin never seems to be fully healthy and he usually follows up his great seasons with only decent ones where he’ll miss 20 games.

To me its pretty clear. Kane is and should be int he conversation for top 3 since he has entered the league. Can't put him over Sid or Ovie though. Maybe if he somehow has another 2-3 years of dominance and the other two realy tail off, but I doubt either of those things happen.

The Toews stuff is straight nonsense. Toes is a Chris Drury, nothing more. A solid gamer but lacks any kind of high end scoring. Kane won those cups.

OV is below Malkin this decade and Kane.

OV aint even PPG this decade

This "decade"

Ovechkin: 8 trophies (2 more than Malkin's entire career), 5x top 10 hart (more than Malkin's career), 5x top 10 pts (more than Malkin's career), 3x 1st AST

Malkin 3 trophies, 2x hart top 10, 2x top 10 pts, 1x 1st AST

OV beats Malkin's whole career just with this decade.

Toews was considered better than Kane because up until about the end of 2015, he was. Career up until the end of the 2014-2015 season:

Kane - 557 points in 576 games - average 79 points over 82 games
Toews - 506 points in 565 games - average 73 points over 82 games

I'll take the 73 point center that plays Selke caliber defense over the 79 point winger who is an offensive specialist any day of the week.

Obviously things have changed since then, but I can't for the life of me figure out why people actually buy into this myth of "Toews was a mediocre passenger and Kane was always the bus driver."

Please stop talking about stuff you have no idea about. Toews kane and keith were about as close to equal in worth to those cups as equal can get.

Lol Toews was as good or better in most of their Cup runs, even just offensively they were usually very close.

This Kane man is really rolling on like crazy guy. Canät really believe he has 37 points in 17 games. This is unbelievable. Never seen like this. He is really the best hockey player in the world. Can't say no. I really mean it. I really really hope the Chicago will go to the playoffs so the man called Kane will win the Hart trophy. He really deserves it.

Crosby is actually one of the few who has dominated on that level in recent history. In 2013-2014 he had 104 points and second place (Getzlaf) had 87. I'm going off of memory now but I think the last time prior to Crosby that someone had that big of a lead on 2nd place was Jagr. Kane is still a beast though and in elite company as far as destroying the rest of the league goes.

Edit: Nevermind, I thought you mentioned Crosby in your post and I re-read it and saw that I was wrong. Carry on.

Malkin in 2011-12 was 12 points up on 97 point Stamkos, while missing 7 games, and 16 ahead of 3rd place Giroux.

Kane has a chance at both the Art Ross and the Richard now. Absolutely incredible run here.

Chicago is now 3 points out of a playoff position. If Chicago makes the playoffs, Kane deserves consideration for the Hart too.

Healthy Malkin > post 2010 Ovechkin, not really too close either.

Oh my goodness, no.

Toews was pretty clearly more impactful and important to the Blackhawks from 2009-2014.

2015 was the intersect. That's the point at which you could probably argue Toews and Kane's impact on the team was equal, though for more of the playoffs that year, Toews was actually better.

2016 on, Kane has been better.

Summer of 2014 is when both Kane and Toews signed their enormous deals. Kane has lived up to the contract, Toews has seemed to coast until this season.

3 points tonight and 40 in 18 and still looks like a joke compared to Kucherov. It's crazy what Kucherov is doing. Kane has 11 in 6, 40 in 18 and still nowhere near Kucherov.

Kucherov plays for a team that's about to win the Presidents' Trophy.

Kane has been perhaps the biggest factor in lifting a team out of the cellar earlier this season and on the cusp of a playoff spot.
